The bolts that Ferrari supply are Grade 10.9 steel (you can just about see the identification on the top) that look as though they have been either "Spray Zinc" or tin plated - If you have a look closely at the threads they can be partially filled up with what ever they have used - look in the hex socket and you will see it built up in the bottom.

The pic shows the mounting holes I used on the 348. Sorry about quality of photo but the flash plays havoc with the reflection!

Peter, maybe they were aluminum (it's been awhile). They were indeed allen head.

I ordered the 355 pedals from Wide World of Cars in NY. There were different size bolts for brake/clutch and gas, but all of them are aluminum allen bolts rather than SS. I put three in the gas pedal - 2 side by side in the top and one in the bottom -- I'm not sure if this is the correct way to install it or not, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to fall off -- they sent 3 bolts, I installed 3 bolts. They were also kind enough to send a copy of the pedal diagram from the 355 parts catalog -- but the way it's drawn, you can't really tell where the bolts go. I just looked at Mike's pictures for the brake/clutch and winged it on the gas pedal. Ferrari part numbers for the bolts are listed below:

gas pedal: 14440734 (alum allen bolt) 14058311 (nut)
brake/clutch: 1441324 (alum allen bolt) 15896214 (nut)

Mike,

Thanks for the feedback - We ship them out with M6 for the Brake/Clutch & M5 for the Gas pedal.

David,

Paul,

I have been trying to e-mail you a reply. Must be a server problem.

Please forward me the information you mentioned in your e-mail so I can order a set. Can't wait to get them installed.

Post a reply here and e-mail me if you don't mind.

Paul: The Ferrari dealer originally sent me six identical ss nuts and bolts, but as you noted, they wouldn't properly fit through the gas pedal holes though they worked fine for the other two pedals. I tried enlarging one of the holes in the gas pedal so the threaded part of the bolt would go through, but then the countersink wasn't deep enough and the bolt head was raised above the surface (not good). The parts guy at Ferrari of Atlanta told me those are the bolts that Ferrari specifies for all three pedals, but he tried them while I stayed on the phone and said I was right, and sent me two slightly smaller diameter ss bolts/nuts for the gas pedal, no charge.

I did not have to use a longer one for the lower bolt on the gas pedal. I didn't put it in the lowermost hole, but in the second one up from the bottom and it was fine.

Mike C,

Out of interest, did you use smaller bolts on the gas pedal (M5)- As the Ferrari ones have smaller holes (5.4mm dia) on the gas pedal compared to the Brake/clutch? (6.5mm dia).

I cant understand why they did that, as the countersinking is near enough the same size.

Also on your car did you have to use a longer bolt on the lower fixing of the Gas pedal?

Thanks for the comments

Steven: Look at my profile... you WILL see some differences on the exterior!

Ron R, here's how I put in the bolts.

Mike,

Wonderful! Had to do a double take as your car looks EXACTLY as mine does. Same pedals and shifter. (Humor) Maybe your car and mine are the EXACT same car... Call it the randomness of particle theory :-)

Enjoy the Drive,

Is there a standard for which holes to use for mounting? I just got a set, and haven't installed them yet. I can tell from Mike's picture where the clutch and brake pedal fasteners were installed, but can't tell on the go pedal.

Here's the dealer set in my 308QV. I think it's a nice look with the aluminum shift knob (from TeamVoodoo)

Those do look sharp--I've ordered a set and will post here when I receive them. They do look identical to stock 355, which is to say, awesome.

They appear identical to the ones sold here, at Italian Car Parts (dot com):
http://www.italiancarparts.com/accessories/shiftknobs_pedalpads_gatevault.html

This set (above, at italiancarparts.com) set goes for $200 before shipping ($16). Mike, you got a pretty good deal going through the dealer--I've heard from others who have spent more than that from a dealer.

Paul's set looks identical (size, shape, hole count and location, texture pattern), is also AL, for $96 plus shipping (I'd estimate $15 or so for shipping from UK).

It's so nice not to feel like I'm getting taken. I'll post when I've got them installed.

Very nice. The final touch after the slick shift and the aluminium gear knob! I will order a set.

I paid about $135 plus shipping at a Ferrari dealer including mounting nuts and bolts. If shipping from the U.K. isn't bad, Paul's set seems like a good deal.

Paul, these look like stock 355 pedals (348 Challenge pedal, hence the title of this thread?)...

They ARE available from your local dealer as well as the usual sources... BUT, I suspect that the set is (much) more expensive than what Paul's asking.

FWIW, it's a pretty good upgrade for 348s.

vty,

Very nice, and a nice price also. If I didn't already have them from the dealer, I'd be ordering a set.

Paul, those look awesome. I wouldn't mind having a set. Let me know. You might as well post it because I am sure we're not the only two.

Have finally got round to producing the Aluminium pedals. I have an order from 2 Ferrari shops here in the UK and we are running a batch at the moment.

They work out at 60.00 ($96.00 approx) a set - complete with all the fixings.

So what do you think? Upload
