Martin are you getting this car? I have been checking your site and haven't seen it. Just curious to see it!

Martin Martin.....
You need to find the right person that appreciates a low mileage car.

I bought a 90 with 9k last year. I wanted a car no one took apart. I got one. It is now having its first 30k at 10k. I paid 62k for it and was well aware I would put 4-7k to service it.

In my opinion it was worth every penny I paid. Yes I could get a cheaper car. But I got exactly what I wanted which is well worth the difference in money.

If the car is REALLY clean and the service is up to date. The doucuments are acurate and correct hold out for more money.

If really good cars hold their value its keeps this sport afordable. If we view these cars as mere comodities the love will fade....

I am so pleased to acutally own a Ferrari.

My 348 ts doesn't have all the updates but runs like new. Looks like new. The inside and outside looks like only 10k.

If I was still looking and your car was original. Immaculate. Documented low miles and recent services done by a competent garage I would pay mid to high 60's even today.

Sorry I already have one.

Let us know how it turns out.

In my experience there will "always" be a buyer for a low mileage, showroom conditon vehicle that runs excellent. The "buyer" who wants this vehicle will pay over what the vehicle typically goes for. Martin you will only get so many of these golden sales opportunities and you will need to make the most of them . This vehicle will definitely sell for way more money than what they normally go for. Selling this vehicle for "going rate" , whatever that is, would be like flushing money down the toilet.

Martin,
if you're looking for an advertising selling price for the car
i'd say around $58K

(help keep the 348 value near the high 50's)

14 years has 5,110 days. The car has averaged 184 feet, 9 and a half inches of daily forward movement.

I am certainly no expert, but from what I have seen, selling price might be around $55-58K. I base this on a conversation I had with the head sales guy at the local authorized dealer. He said they were trying to get 355Bs in and their asking price was going to be from $60-70K. Perhaps it is just the 355Bs that have dropped like rocks the last 18 months, but this has to put a lot of presssure on the 348s. I have also seen on ebay a 95 348 spider with less than 10K that looked good go for $62,500 Buy It Now option. There is a black 348 (very clean) with 10K at the dealer and they are asking $69K, way too much in my opinion, and it has been sitting for a couple months now. I just don't see may people paying over $60K for an '89 (even with low miles) with all the associated problems when they could have a 355 with 20K for roughly the same price. If however you want to sell the 348 for under $50K please email me!!! Although I won't be holding my breath. :-)

DES, 2.84 miles per day for 14 years would be 14,512.4 miles.

Arlie
"What kind of person buys a 1989 Ferrari and only drives it 1800 miles in 14 years?"

I read a book in college about these kinds of people. It was called "The theory of The Leisure Class" by Thorstien Veblen.

He described it as pecuniary consumption. ex. Buy a shirt , wear it once and throw it away (because it will never be the same again once its been washed).

The same same goes for other parts of these folks lives. You can't have a house in the hills without a house at the beach. Never be caught playing golf on a public course. Never be seen "driving" your own car, and even if you don't care much about cars, have at least one Ferrari in the garage.

I would venture to say around 59.9k....honestly, if I could buy a 348 with that many miles and in great condition, i probably would. Thats selling price..not asking :-)

I think something that will effect this is whether its a TS or TB.

You gotta wonder about a car that age with only 1800 miles on it. I would be willing to bet the owner disconnected the speedo sensor!

Arlie, exactly that kind of person. I had a client who a few years ago "dicovered" he had a 1991 NSX with delivery miles sitting in his hanger in AZ. He "has" to have all of the hottest cars of the moment and most of them never get driven more than a couple hundred miles before they get traded or in this case forgotten. He has hit harder financial times in the last couple of years but back in the glory days he would go through 40-50 cars a year. Jets are his real passion though so I suppose the car money seemed like childs play in comparison. Shame to see a good car "wasted" like that.

Martin, I'd guess somewhere in the 50's.

It looks pretty nice, good luck with it, it might be really fun, maybe the seller used it to just go get the mail down his long driveway

I have a feeling that the car will be WAY over-priced. The only thing to do is to sell it to a museum.

Just curious. What kind of person buys a 1989 Ferrari and only drives it 1800 miles in 14 years? Some wealthy millionaire type who has more important things to do in life than dabble in "worldy" possessions, yet always has the "worldy" money to purchase the finest motorcars?

The car is red with tan int.

Dave,
thanks for the offer but the market in Europe is so much different and can not be compared with the US market. I know I have seen my fair share of good deals in europe. If only the conversion would be easier....

I would say it depends on what you buy it for. Make a good profit and move on. I keep seeing a similar mileage car for sale that was painted red instead of the original black because the owner wanted red. If it is this one I couldn't tell you what that would do although they said it had no damage.

I came up with my price by going through the evolution of things Ferrari as in
308-30's
328-40's
348-50's
Being that this particular 348 is low mileage has had the 30k done and assuming it is clean and has all doc. to day one that puts it at the high end
$ wise.

I am in the market for a 348ts and I know, mostly from discussions on this site, that I wouldn't pay anywhere near the $60k that Kassler is asking. On Hemmings.com there's a 348 spyder going for $59,900.00 firm, and it's been there at least 2 weeks. It has more miles, obviously, but I think only about 30k. The only 348ts prices that have peaked my interest of late are those for near perfect cars, like yours, that are going between $50-55k. Thus, long story longer, I'd price it between $52-54k.

martin, e-mail me and I will tell you what I paid for my Euro '91 348TS only 8 months ago in the UK from Talacrest, it had 2600 miles it now has 3400

I am a perfectionist so low mile cars are what I am generally ended up drawn toward when purchasing, my experience with mine has so far been a good one.

Des,
no I have not seen the car but I have a contact through a Ferrari mechanic that worked on this car and the car is described as SUPER clean! Well 1800 Miles that should be expected I guess.

but then....I should know better :-)

Robert,
I think this is what other dealers are asking as well for these cars. I know Steven Kessler has one with 9000 MIles 1991 (which is a 2.7 Motornic) for over $60K. Then I think they are smoking too much pot when they are asking these prices.

Wow... a 14 year old car with only 1800 miles...? That would average out to 2.84 miles a day... Can i assume since you're going to pick it up, you (or someone else) already looked at it, to make sure that it can at least be driven...? Mileage was a concern even for me, when i was looking for a car two weeks ago... If i found a car that was really old with not a lot of miles on it, i usually found that there was a problem with it... (i learned to ask that from hanging out here...:-))

I will pick up this car tomorrow and have no clue where to price this car. You all know that I am not happy with low miles cars. The only reason I am picking up this car is the 30K service was done last year summer and the car is super clean.

I have my usual reservations about the low miles.
Give me price ideas!
