Erik Basically the Valeo transmission is a normal 348/mondial t gearbox modified with a clutch control system. I will check some of my notes on monday, I believe I have some diagrams if it will help. Regards, Jim |

the clutch is engaged when you shift the shifter. the standard shift gate looks "standard". the only difference is that there is no clutch pedal. once you pull the gear lever, the gearbox engages the clutch and allows you to place the car in the next gear, whether up or down. this sytem, when working, allows for a pedaless clutch and is very enjoyable to drive. |

It looks like Steve Harris Imports has one for sale. As best I can tell, the shifter looks much the same as a normal stock 5 speed. http://www.ferrarinetwork.com/more.phtml |

I noticed on www.ferrarimarketletter.com they listed the cars owned at one time by Gianni Agnelli. S/N 79883. F40 with Valeo clutch. LHD. Red. Acquired 1989. Now with Dr. Sante Freni in Italy. S/N 89983. F40 with Valeo clutch. LHD. Red. I never saw any F40s refered to having the semiautomatic gearbox for sale so these must have been made custom just for him.

I drove one. With the floor mounted stick and no clutch pedal I kept slaming my foot down on the non existant pedal. I don't have this problem when I drive my paddle shifter Maser. I remember it being pretty baulky. |

I have searched through past posts on the subject and have not seen any pictures of the actual transmission. A search on google also returned no hits picture wise. Does anyone have any? Has anyone every driven one of these Mondials? Erik |
