Andrew, There were two original examples, 3765 SA (see Cavallino #94) and 4561 SA. A third car, 3673 SA, was originally bodied like a 250 GT SWB but was later rebodied as a GTO. As for why 4561 SA sold for so much (without going into too much detail): Right at the peak of the market, the buyer had set up a deal to pay $17 million for the car and immediately flip it for $22 million. As you can guess, the "flip" portion of his deal fell through and he was an owner. After a long, drawn-out court battle with the Meiers in a failed attempt to wiggle out of the deal, he ended up selling the car for around $5 million. |

Joseph , the 330 GTO is almost the same car as the 250 GTO but it has a 4.0 engine instead of a 3.0 . If i remember correctly you can recognize them by there bigger hump on their hood . Only 3 330 GTO were built if im not mistaken. But Wayne will clarify this im sure

Wayne , do you know why this 330 GTO commended such a high price ? Was it because it was a 330 instead of a 250 ? |

This isn't about a sale price, but today while at the VSCCA winter tech session at KTR Engineering in Ayer, MA I saw 1962 GTO s/n 3647. The amazing thing about this one is that it has NEVER been restored and is as raced by John Surtees and others. Right down to the crazing and chips in the paint and the chicken wire grill! And the current owner uses the car. The originality was absolutely stunning! Does anyone know if there are any other 250 GTOs in original, unrestored condition? |

I remember that in 1990/1991 a GTO sold for something like 15 millions $ ? Not too sure about the details but i think it was at the Solo Ferrari auction @ Monaco ? If anyone knows more about this , please enlighten me ! thanks . |
