Wow Paul that's an awesome pic of the back side! When I drove through there, the back side was actually enveloped in a thick fog/cloud, so I could only see about 5 feet in front of the car. The pavement was also icy, as the outside temp was hovering near freezepoint. Imagine driving down that road in a 360, in thick fog, on ice. No wonder I was so dizzy (and my knuckles were so white!) once I finally arrived in Bormio!

Hey DES, here's a few more for ya...

This first one is of the old highway that winds through St. Gotthard's pass, just a little way down the road from the Furka Pass. The last three are more from Furka. I did not take these -- they were taken by a friend who biked through the area with his girlfriend. I am not nearly the photographer that he is!

I've driven that pass near Bormio, Italy, in a rented 360 Modena. Though the pass itself is beautiful, the road quality is terrible. Bad bumps, uneven pavement, tons of gravel. Net net, you can't carry any speed through there, and it's really not a very fun drive.

If you want the dream drive in a Ferrari, go for the Furka Pass in Switzerland. The scenery rivals the Stelvio Pass near Bormio, and the quality of the pavement on the roads is excellent. The road is smooth, clean, and extremely well maintained. You can accelerate to 80mph in the straights, brake hard, carry a little speed through the switchbacks, then once again accelerate hard through the next straight until the next switchback. And just imagine how the engine wails and echoes through the deep canyons! It's the dream of a lifetime, and that's no exaggeration!

Here are a couple pics:

Try highway 550 (ironic, eh?) between Montrose & Durango, Colorado. In my M3, that is the most fun I have had on 4 wheels & not on the track!

Much of it looks like that Italian road, but with a 4000' ravine down to a river on one side. And then you go over 3 of the highest passes in the state. Not for the faint of heart or the lardarse RV, either...

Ever driven the Saddle Road in Hawaii (big island)? Twisty, hiily, not too many cliffs on your way up to 4000'. Then you can go almost straight up to the rest stop on Mona Kea at 9000'. I wouldn't take a Ferrari to the summit at 14,000 however.

The pics of the roads are nice and the one in Italy, well that would not be a road to take a chance on as it probably be a fatal fall but looks ominous and a nice road to cruise on but not to race on. But trying to stay on the subject I was looking to see if there are any other streets, roads, ways, etc. named Ferrari. I was tempted to take the sign as there are many of them, he he.:-)

Andrew, that whole road to Bormio is something else - if you take it aggressively your nerves will get frayed before the breaks do, it's a blast! I did it in a BMW years ago and kept getting passed by locals in beat-up little Fiats.

Anthony, looks like those two are cycling uphill, and in fact the Giro d'Italia (cycling race) usually has stages on such mountain roads in this area north of Milan... incredible huh?!

Has anyone seen any streets named Ferrari? I found this cruising down a highway by Lincoln. This is where all the Ferraris hang out on the weekend.......:-)Upload
