I have driven 3 different F cars to the top, 84 308, 87 328 (in pic) and a 94 348. All drove up just fine, except for the expected loss of power (3% per 1000 ft.) Interestingly, a number of manufacturers use the road for prototype testing, some are disguised, some not. Last time, I saw a disguised car that I think was a Jaguar sedan, but can't be sure. The biggest problems one might face would be overheating. A long climb on a hot day with little air to cool the radiator will test a cooling system. Carbureted cars run richer and richer as you rise. Injected cars compensate. Magoo, it is popular, only open generally from mid June to labor day so there is traffic. I try to go on a weekday. Worst hazard is flatlanders who are scared to drive near the edge (no guardrails) By the way, it is located west of Denver, probably a 50 mile trip from downtown. Dave |

Doug Meredith wins! Mt. Evans has the highest paved road in the world terminating at about 14,200 ft. You have to climb the last 50 ft. to the summit yourself. Besides mountain goats, there are lots of bighorns and other wildlife. It is a great drive in any car, more scenic and less crowded than the better known Pike's Peak drive. For reasons unknown to me, the nanny goat in the pic actually slobbered all over the air intake of my car. Must have liked the smell of Italian horsepower! DAve |

It sure looks alot like the middle of idaho, but it might be too hilly. Idaho is relatively flat in the part i though it was, and in the mountains its not much of rolling hills, more jagged. |

It is in North America, west of the Mississippi. Sorry, no mountain goats on Pike's Peak. Dave |

With April here, thoughts of summer dominate. Here is a pic I took summer '98. I don't have the car anymore, but memory remains. There is only one place in the world this shot can be taken. A gold star to the first one who guesses right. |
