Wow! Both jobs look very scary but looking at Neil's car I can see that it could be worth it. Thank's for the offer of help Wade but I think shipping the car from London and back would add a little too much to the cost! I was trying to work out whether it's worth buying a white 308 GTSi (2 valve) that's being advertised here for about $27K and respraying it. But it sounds like the rest of the car would have to be perfect to make it worthwhile. I'll probably keep looking. Thanks for all of the help though. |

Check out Neil Green's '77 308 GTB repaint project (go to the painter's link shown in this thread): http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/112/206562.html A definite value increase (if done well as Stu said), not only for the red vs white issue, but if you can document good rust repair like Neil's done with his project (especially on a pre-"zinc" 308) it's got to be a plus (but it's not cheap either so I don't think you'll make a profit, but you could almost break even). Search on "Neil Green" author as well as he posted several updates. |

You can reduce the cost significantly by doing as much of the prep work as possible yourself. I had some paint work done on mine and saved around 20% by removing bumper, fins and badges myself (easy to do). This is probably stating the obvious, but I would think the difference in value repainting has is directly related to the quality of the work. (good = higher / bad = lower). And I would think also that going from white to red would without question reflect an increase in value (again, assuming quality work). |

$8000-$12000, maybe. There is a thread about this somewhere. It may increase the value. First time buyers usually want a red one. |

Can anyone give me an idea about how much a complete respray, from white to red, would cost for a 308? Would you expect it to affect the car's value? Thanks Alex |
