I know a supplier that sells Tubi bypass pipes. They are flanged and ported for sensors. Beautifully done and purchased for $300 set. Email for details. |

Good point, Gordo. It might also be worth mentioning, just in case, that the noise could possibly be coming from the flywheel, particularly if it is most noticeable when starting or shutting off the engine. Numerous threads here on the flywheel subject. |

Mark, Just another note, I have a 348 and have had similar problems. In my case however the rattling was from the heatshields on the manifolds not the CATs. I had the CATs gutted and the problem remained. I am just in the process of replacing the manifolds and dumping the CATs in favour of Tubi.

Both of the CATs on my 348 were rattling. I pulled them out and found that the inserts were sliding back and forth inside the housings. My solution was to drill and tap a hole into the housing, then install a short screw which would hold the insert solidly in place. It's worked so far, no more rattles, and the CATs work fine. Just make sure your rattle isn't due to the inserts falling apart, they might plug your muffler. If you don't have emission testing, you can also just "gut" the CATs and make your own test pipes. But if you can get good quality test pipes for $300/pair, that ain't bad! |

I just installed a pair of test pipes with a TUBI silencer. Not a single problem to report. Go for it! |

I ran an Ad in the FML and got more offers than I could respond to. I bought them from a fellow in Texas for $300.00 for the pair. |

I think my CATs are rattling, and I want to try a pair of test pipes. I'm also considering a TUBI, but I think I'll start with just the test pipes, and the stock muffler for now. Where is the best place to buy the test pipes? Any installation tips? Chk Eng or Slow Down light complications? Thanks. Mark |
