Michel Bollee has just come out with a new book on the Le Mans 24-hour races held between 1960 to 1969. Hard cover and 112 pages, it is essentailly a picture book with extensive and informative captions. But the captions are in French. Michel had self published this book, just like he did with his previous ones on Lucky Casner, the Paris 1000 KM [Monthlery] and Maserati Au Mans. What I like about this book is the number of color photos [about 40-50%] of the early sixties, the great sequential start photos [often in color] and the more unusual shots: Lucky Casner digging his Birdcage out of the sand trap at night, Tony Settember leading the race briefly in his Corvette, the Drogo Ferrari of ENB at the 1963 trial weekend, the weird color of the Perspex on the Lister Coupe, Pedro Rodriguez getting all sideways at the 1964 start and still leading under the Dunlop bridge, Skip Hudson in the same car in color, the J-Ford during the 1966 practice weekend, the various body version of the Autodelta Alfas during the same in 1967, etc, etc, etc. Michel can be reached at: [email protected] The book goes for 42 Euros plus shipping. Payment with order, so check with him what the postage is going to be. I can highly recommend this book - a must have for all Le Mans enthusiasts. [email protected] (Helmut Schnug)
