There is a Red/Tan 1989 328 GTB with only 4,000 at Ferrari of Dallas. I heard the belts were done recently. I think Rob may have seen the car. I heard it is very nice and one of only 35 "B's" built that year. You might check with them. |

Jake, I love my 328!!! I drive it once a week on the weekends pretty faithfully. At some point I would love to get a F355 spyder, but I don't think I could ever sell the 328. My first true love, you know. Theo |

That was me Jake! I forgot about that. It was your 328. I spoke to you on the phone when I was speaking to Andrew (that's his name!) up in NH. I passed on the car. I ended up buying an 87 for about 8 grand less. From what I remember, the air conditioner compressor was not working when I test drove it.

I Think that 328 is my old one. I cant get the carfax to come up on it though. See if is was ever registered to a handsome gentleman named Jake Liddell from Norwell, Massachusetts. IF the 30k was done 2 years ago and its now in NH it must be it. I bought it from Continental Autosports out in Ill. They did the 30k when I bought it. I think someone else on this board was looking at it a while back |

$50k should be good (of course you can do better) for a recently-serviced, in very good condition '89 328. I would insist on an '89 model. Some may think they are overpriced...unfortunately, it's reality. It's what the market dictates. '89 models also seem to retain their market value ie., a good investment. You can get a low mileage '86-'88 model in the close to $50k range but their value seems to drop significantly w/ mileage...not much w/ the '89's. If you plan on keeping the car for a good while, it's worth spending a few thousand bucks more in the long run. Don't rush...there are plenty of good 328's. Ron |

Crawford, I know the place (and guy) you are talking about. His name is Steven (I think). When I was looking for my 328 last July, he was advertising his 89 328 with about 27,000 miles for $53,000. I went up there, looked at the car, and went for a test drive. I was looking at 2 other 328s, and eventually went with a 87 328. Attached is the carfax I ran on the car. Hope it helps. Theo

Crawford. I talked with Ferrari of Ontario last week. They sold a fully serviced (as in ALL receipts) 86 R/tan 328 with 72,000km (~45,000mi) for ~$50,000 canadian. That's less than $35k US. Importing it would have been nothing as ALL 328's imported to Canada and the US were North American cars. The only difference being the spedo with kph and a km odometer. I saw a beatiful, fully serviced 328 on E-Bay, red/tan 22K, go for $45k. Another one sold with a few more miles for $43K. Neither one had a bent hood. Go to the Lousiana threads and do a search for Fantasy Motors. Get the phone number and call them. I've heard nothing but good things about them the relatively short time they've been in business. I've been shopping for a 308 for ~2 1/2 months now and the variations in what people ask for the cars, and what is actually paid is pretty wide. To offer some advise. GO SLOW. Don't get Ferrari-itis and the ever dreaded "gotta-have-it-itis" or you'll be out $10K in maintenance before you can sneaze. There are too many good cars, with no stories, complete service records, and an owner who actually wants to sell it out there. It may take you 6-months, but in the long run you'll feel much better, and be much happier with with your Ferrari if you find the one for you. Good luck EDIT - I missed that it was an '89. They had a lot of upgrades that may make the car worth 2-3k more than an '86. Negotiate and see what they say, but be sure and have a PPI and check the records. |

Crawford, I had an 87 and have an 89. Whether or not an 89 is worth the premium they bring is a matter of personal choice. I think they are. Any 328 is great however. I would rather pay 50K for an 89 with service done than 43K for an 87 needing service. The car you mention has been for sale for some time. Could be there is an issue, or no one wants to bother going to NH. In any event, a PPI and run a carfax is essential. I believe NH is one of the states that is popular for "cleaning" titles, so I would want a complete ownership history. Dave |

I think if the '89 is in good condition and they're asking $50k, then I think you can work a good deal. If a good car $46-48k would be a good deal. BTW, Jeff's 348 Norwood tt rocks, but they're also one of the best values out there. For some reason you slap a $20k Norwood turbo on there and become a 360 beater and the car sells less for a stock 348. Don't ask me why, I was really jealous when I saw Jeff's car, his dyno sheet, and then how much he paid. |

It's not at Symbolic. It's at a dealership that advertised in Hemmings. I don't think they have a web site. |

Hi Mr. White, Very recently (along with a few others here) in your position. Would be happy to discuss pro/cons & send information having purchased a 1988 328 GTS w/9kmi in November. Also reccomend searching the archives we discussed '89 versus earlier cars & recent asking/selling prices about 2 months previous. Drop me a line: [email protected]

I have seen many 86/87's in the $40 to $42K range with current svs. Miles have been in the 30K range. Colors have been black and red. I personally just think the 89's are way over priced and over valued. Yes they may have ABS and better suspension, but if you arent' tracking them then does it matter? I am also not a fan of the convex wheels. Go to www.traderonline.com and there are about 10 to 14 328's on there week after week and the prices go up and down. Ebay is light right now, but they come and go as well.

So would I really be better off getting the 87 that needs a servive ($3500-4500) for $43k than a 89 with the servive done (albeit 2 years ago) for $50k? I'd then have ~$47K in an 87 or $50K in an 89... |

You can do better. There is a nice 88 with ABS on traderonline now for $45K. It is blue though. There is a 87 on there as well in Dallas iwth low miles and he is asking $64K. Good luck selling that! |

I have a 328, 1987 with 22K Miles, overall very nice straight unfortunately the girlfriend tried to close the front bonnet without pushing the release botton, so light bend but can be easily fixed. All books and tools etc red/tan He will take $ 43,000 and that is non-negotiable. All books and records, 2 owner car, needs service though. |

I'm looking at a car that seems straight, although it only has the paperwork from the last major service (2 years and 2000 miles ago). Have not seen it in person... Is this any kind of a good deal, assuming no other problems? What do you think a dealer would pay for such a car. |
