Part # 130623 has been changed to 191462. This is the current filter that you want to use. There is a change to the build of the filter. I have the Ferrari Tech bullention on it, dated October 2002 if anyone would like to see it.

The worst thing for oil is the type of use you describe. Engines run rich when cold. When you consider that the metal componets don't expand until hot you have a good probablilty to wash some gas past the rings into the crankcase. That being said change the oil. I do mine every spring regardless of the miles.

I agree with one of the other writers. An oil change so soon may be overkill. I would be more concerned with flat spots on the tires if you only drive it once per month.

Your oil should be changed at least once a year regardless of mileage

I agree with most of the people here. An oil change is cheap insurance that can save a lot later. Oil that is allowed to sit in a pan after circulating through an engine will degrade and acids can form. This is not good for an engine. IMO - Just change the oil and filter, then get out there and drive your prize.

The oil change is cheap and easy to do yourself so why not! I buy the filters from Dennis McCann online for $13 a peice. It is a Purflux LS538 the part # is 130623. Their ph# is (614)855-1103. It takes all of about 30min to do the change. Even with oil included it is still less than $50.

I think doing an oil/filter change every 6 months with super-low miles is a bit of an overkill. Interestingly, the 308GTB/S OM says "minimum twice a year", yet the TR OM says "once a year minimum" -- what does your 348 OM recommend?

I recently purchased a 1993 348. This car has been BABY'ed!! I have all the paper work going back 10 years from the same dealer...here is my question. The car has had an oil change every 6 months regardless of how many miles were put on the car.....As I said I have all the reciepts! :-)
Since I purchased the car, I've been storing it, but driving it approximately 1 time per month, just to "keep it fresh"....the last oil change was 9 months ago, but only 300 miles ago....The change was done by a dealer with a new filter and Mobile Synthetic 15W50.....If it were conventional oil, I would change it based just on age....but do you think it's necessary to change this oil, to "get ready for spring"....only 300 miles have been put on the oil and filter....

thoughts????
Thanks!
