That car is just beautiful, and looks so damn fast ... just awesome. Imagine driving that down a main street back when it was new, let alone now.

Wayne:

There is a two page article with six pictures. I'll have to experiment a bit to see how I can send it to you. It is near the center of the book, and I don't want to split the spine by laying it flat (I'm sure you understand). I can get better resolution than the 640 on FChat.

Check your email in a couple of minutes.

Jeff, is there an article to go with that or just the pic?

BTW, thanks again for the magazine. I'm planning to write GP again today. I know someone who will be visiting Wayne Golomb next month and intends to ask him if he knows when 0456 AM was repainted "Grigio Ingrid."

Ahh, I see now! Very nice ad, Jeff!

Wayne,

The photos I have were done in bright daylight so it might as well be possible that the gold shade can not be seen. On these photos the car quite simply looks silver. Stunning that photos can be o far away from reality :-(
As I just said the story was in german "Ferrari World" magazine.

Jens, the original color was a flat non-metallic blue (I have photos). It was repainted at a later date to the current shade of champagne-gold, a color that has since become available on modern Ferraris called "Grigio Ingrid," or "Ingrid Gray."

The magazine pictures you're seeing (which magazine?) must not be showing the gold hue of the car. Were they taken in bright sunlight, perhaps? This is for certain:

1. The car was originally flat baby-blue.
2. The car is now champagne-gold.
3. The current champagne-gold paint color offered by Ferrari is called "Grigio Ingrid" and is named after the current color of 0456 AM.
4. GP's watch face is silver-gray.
5. The color on GP's watch face is referred to as "Grigio Ingrid" by GP.

What is not known:

1. When was 0456 AM first painted it's current color? (I'm working on this one.)
2. Why is GP's watch face not champagne-gold?
3. Better yet, why is GP's watch face not light blue?

As I've said, I sent an email to GP regarding #1 and #2.

Well,

Strange: The pictures in the magazine seem to be pretty new and all show the car in silver and not in gold.
Besides there is a detailed description and some photos of the new watch by GP. What do you want to know about it, Wayne?
From what I understand people from Ferrari/Pininfarina named that custom colour Grigio Ingrid and the car was originally painted like that. (Grigio means silver in italian but it might as well be possible that this silver had a shade of light blue in it! I dont know...).
If GP makes a watch to honour the car I hope their research was good enough to get to know the original colour which they say is Grigio Ingrid.

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller

P.S. As I just said in my recent post I mistook the colour and just thought it was white! Sorry...

The car is RHD because it is based off of a 375 Mille Miglia competition chassis supplied to Pinin Farina by the factory. Off the top of my head, I would say that they were all RHD but, of course, there might be a rare exception that I'm not thinking of right now.

This car has never been white. It was originally light blue and is now gold. It is with long-time owner Wayne Golomb (yes, an attorney) in Michigan.

As far as being made for someone in England, I've never heard that one. Are you sure you're not confusing this with a different car?

As for the watch by Girard-Perregaux and the color "Grigio Ingrid" supposedly used on the watch face, we've had a discussion about this in a previous thread somewhere. I've sent an email to GP about this and have not yet received a response.

Ross,

Sorry: Just noticing that the colour of the car is silver on the pictures (Name of the special colour was: Grigio Ingrid according to the article)
With the rhd: Either it was pure coincidence or perhaps Rosselini and Bergman just lived in the UK at that time and thus wanted a rhd car.
I really dont know and the article says nothing about why it is a RHD.
Perhaps Wayne knows something...

jens, yes i saw it myself in rome in 97, but it was gold then. see link provided earlier by l.wayne, who also tells us the owner is wayne golomb. http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/0456AM.375MM.htm

but do you know why they made it rhd? seems like they originally made it for somebody in england and just happened to show it first in paris.

Ross,

This car has a very long story! It is a single design for the famous italian film director Roberto Rosselini and his then wife Ingrid Bergmann.
A fantastic car and I saw some newer pictures of it when it was in Europe lately. Its still white and has some brown interior like cognac or something.
In the newest german "Ferrari World" there was an article about the car because lately Girard Perregaux made a watch dedicated to this special model. There were lots of pictures of this model from all sides..
Absolutely stunning...
As far as I know the car now belongs to some lawyer from the US.

the picture in the link you sent me shows that car as right hand drive. i find it strange that this car was a one-off at the paris show in 1954, but is rhd. whats the story behind that?
