Here is My recent drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I drove the Daytona from Philadelphia thru the parkway, the Smokies, and then to San Diego. The parkway was beautifull in May, saw a black bear and lots of deer. A world class drive[well, not Gatlinburg and Cherokee]

Lee,

Let's definitely get together sometime. I've got a lot of family out toward Cherokee, so I don't mind heading out that way.

Dr. Shelbee,

Those are some beautiful cars you have. Maybe, when my wife gets out of her Residency her at Mission Memorial, we can buy ourselves a 360 or 550!

Hi Stephen,

I did the same thing with my 360 in summer last year before I shipped my car home (West).

Can't remember where this church was. I started from Ashville to Southern Virginia, put 500 miles on my 360 and practiced the F1 transmission :-)Upload

Yep wish I would have gotten that job in Greenville SC. It's just such a nice area. Ah well we will be @ the Biltmore for FIAT Freakout in July probably with the Ferrari. And then back in August with the Maserati for the Maser Miglia 7.

Stephen:
I'm live in Knoxville and work in Sevierville. We should get together for a Sunday drive sometime, maybe through the mountains in and around Cherokee or something.
Let me know if anything's going on in this area (track events, etc.)

Great looking car, Greg! I agree. I think anybody that wants to have some serious fun in their Ferrari needs to check out the Parkway.

Stephen, I've had my Ferrari on the parkway several times as well when I lived in VA. What an excellent road to drive the car. Many of the turns are sharp enough that even at slower speeds, they are a blast!

The Biltmore is near by and there are many nice places in the area. The Biltmore has a resort on the grounds of the famous house which is worth taking a look at.

Jim,

If I had to guess, I would say that the shields are the stick-on type. They have some vertical relief much like the factory ones placed on the newer cars. I know they are not standard, but I really like the look. I, for one, bought my car, because I liked the Euro look better than the U.S. model. I knew if I was going to spend that kind of money on a hobby car, I wanted one that looked exactly how I wanted it to. I wanted a car that in every respect, put a smile on my face, regardless of purity or "euro" stigmas. So far, no regrets.

I just walked in the door from yet another ride down the Parkway. What a blast! The 308 is truly a go-kart with a body wrapped around it. As for the color, mine is nero metalica. As for great places to stay in Asheville, there are several. First and foremost is the magnificent Grove Park Inn and Spa, named one of the best resorts in all of the U.S. I know one of the Ferrari clubs in the Southeast visits there every year. Also, there is the Inn at Biltmore Estate which is brand new and very nice! Asheville is a wonderful place to live and to drive great cars. Please pay us a visit, soon!

Only slightly off-topic, Stephen are there any nice resorts in that area? Might make a good excuse to pack the 550 and head to NC for a ride!!

Nice car Stephen. I have a euro too, #58613 (near the tail end of production). Are those shields the stick-ons or magnetic? As you can see from my profile, I haven't installed the shields as of yet. Sort of a purist, & cannot decide to add them.

Yes, this is a Euro model. 1985 308 QV (at least that is how it has always been registered in the U.S.) Ferrari tells me that this car was manufactured in 1984 (serial #54609). I have every record since it was first purchased in the U.S. in May of 1986.

My wife and I took the 308 out on a cruise down the Blue Ridge Parkway, today. We also stopped for a picnic. Below, are the pictures I took. The picture in the driveway was taken several weeks ago. I live about five miles from the Parkway. Last night, we were out renting a movie and were stopped by some Girl Scouts (out selling cookies) and asked if the Ferrari was ours. They were going crazy! I let them sit in the car, and they even asked for my autograph! I was grinning from ear to ear! I couldn't believe that a couple of 8 year olds could identify, let alone be enthusiastic, about a car that is nearly 20 years old! I love this car!
