Hi All,

I just spoke on the phone with Andrea to check on Bruce's condition: he is holding strong, stops by his computer occasionally and actually even tries to do some work. The healing process is going on, but more time is needed to see the results. Andrea mentioned how much all the support from the F-Chatters - all e-mails, calls and everything else - means to Bruce and helps him remain strong.

With all my best wishes to Bruce,

Anton.

I guess I'm a little late for this thread, but I just read all the post's and It made me feel bad. Not in the way you think, but of what tragic situation Bruce is in.

I haven't catched the whole story. What has happened, how did you/he loose his sight like that? Really, I feel very sorry for you Bruce. All though I don't know you, I sure will pray for you this evening.

Please get well fast, can't bare when people has illnesses like this. Especially when they own a Ferrari.

(Don't flame me Matt, I'm tired of it.)

Best Regards,

Spend a good half an hour on the toilet, when finished turn around and start shouting at whatever is the results of your efforts. Come on guys, your trying to argue with a piece of sh*t.

Bruce, don't take anything a crazy person says personally.

Dave: I don't post much, but I'm privelegded to know Bruce, his wife and family and am honored by their love and friendship. He has an uncanny ability to call a spade a spade. Insight I rely on many times. If you can't stand him, you can't stand me. You wish him evil, you wish me evil and that means nothing to either one of us.

Bruce: keep eating right or you'll have to deal with me (or Linda), that should scare you.

DAVE-DROP IT: The good wishes and prayers of those that know him and the grace of God on a honest and good person will see him through. I believe that and hold up 100% on hope for his return to good sight and health.

In fact I look forward to seeing him and
Andrea this coming weekend if he'll let me in (Joke, buddy).

Dave you should have such a friend............

I appologize to Bruce and Rob, as these things should have been handled privately. And so everyone knows I did email Dave and try to clear this up, but he insists on trying to make me look bad on this forum.

First of all Dave is a little off in his account of things.

Dave:

Well you posted last year that you would be visiting Phoenix and would like to get together with fellow F-Chat members.
I then told you to email me and you would be welcome at any of our Ferrari Club events. You then called me and asked many questions about your future purchase of a 348 or Mondial. I met you at a local car show where you were almost an hour late, where I loaned you many magazines you requested to borrow.

You then asked if I could show you around town to the local dealers and we when we met you would return my magazines. We were to meet at 1;30 pm, I showed up at Scottsdale Ferrari at 1;30pm and at around 2pm I called you on your cell. You said oh I am just 10 min. away, an hour later you show up give me my magazines and I had to go. IF you did not have my property, I would not have waited.

I then get another phone call from you asking if you could borrow more magazines. I refused, but did photocopy many articles and mailed them to you.

I then find out from two dealers that you told them that we were good friends and were looking to buy a 355 spider or 360 spider after telling me you were only willing to spend $50k. They gave you test drives in 355 spiders, you then stood them both up on two different scheduled appointments. I get phone calls that a FRIEND of mine failed to come by, could I vouch for you.

I have no affiliation with any dealer in town and I do not get a kick backs.

I drive a $17k Isuzu as a daily driver and I have MiniVan for my two children that cost me $15k. Combined both cars do not equal a Ferrari. (maybe a 308 GT/4, but I have two children and a wife and we both work-we need reliable transportation)

I have been friends with the owner of the 206 for a few years and he has just recently asked me to take care of the car for him.

The car I was going to see that afternoon was a 250LM not a 246/206 you are mistaken.

I then noticed Dave posted a note requesting help when he comes to NJ. So I emailed Bruce privately, to avoid this disgusting display, to warn him of my experience.

You can paint it any way you like Dave, but until now I have never brought this up on FerrariChat and whether the Dealers were highpriced or not is not my problem. I never tried to sell you anything I only loaned you information, ran up my cell phone bill and mailed you copies of more information without any charge. I emailed you yesterday to try and clear this up privately, butn instead you want to make this public. And over something so stupid you you attack Bruce in a time he really needs prayers and well wishes. You are a Scum-Bag!

This has started to interfere with living so this will be my last post. Now I will continue to learn about Ferraris from driving them and communicating with certain individuals. Thanks to all the people who have shared their knowledge.

A final explanation:

When I first met Terry Dounge, he said that Ferraris were the love and passion of his life. Although he drove an SUV that cost more than a Ferrari, he had never owned a Ferrari.

I said that I was trying to decide which Ferrari would be best for me and then buy it. I could not rule out an S, but I really wanted a true convertible. I wanted it for an almost daily driver, so a relatively reliable model was important. I wanted it to be tossable for mountain driving.

Terry recommended that I check out a few places. At these places, I found out that they didnt keep appointments. I got misinformation like a Testarossa gets 22 mph and would therefore be a good daily driver. I also felt they were trying to rip me off. For example, a 3.2 Mondial, purple, good condition, fair number of miles for $69,000. (I ended up buying a far better Mondial t for $33,710.) Another place wanted to sell me a 360 Spider for $280,000. I also had questions about what was being sold. For example, one 355 Spider that just came out of the shop but would not start.

Since these prices seemed high, I went back to Terry and asked about the pricing. After his explanation, I still felt that it was a rip off. I do not know if Terry was getting any kickbacks.

Since I felt the prices were a rip off, we never negotiated any prices, never reached an agreement to buy, never did any paperwork, never paid any deposits, etc.

That is one of the reasons I was discouraged about buying a Ferrari at that time. Would I have to deal with such people to buy and maintain one?

At one point I borrowed two magazines from Terry. I was suppose to return them one evening. I called before leaving. Terry said he could not do it that evening since he was going over to someones place that had a 246. He wanted to become friends with this person. If I had not called, I would have made a two hour round trip drive for nothing. Later when I learned that Terry had a 246 to use, I wandered if he became friends with this person just to get the 246 to use.

Then work took me to NJ. Terry told Bruce that I had reached an agreement to buy several cars but did not follow through. This was not true. If Terry had an issue with me, he had my cell number, my e-mail address, and a physical address. I recommend things/places to people all the time, I have never gotten upset if they did not follow my recommendations. What was in it for Terry for him to get upset that I did not buy where he recommended?

As a result, Bruce attacked me.

Also I found out that some people who earlier had wanted to meet me, no longer wanted to meet me. So I was effectively blacklisted.

I do have an email from Terry now, I had to laugh he did not use his real name.
I will read it later, but the decisions have been made.

So again thanks to all who have shared information. Probably see you on the road sometime.

For Bruce, it is none of my business. However, one of the postings seemed down. If the worse possible does happen, there could be some upsides. You should be able to hear the sounds of a Ferrari better. Feel its vibrations better. Sense of touch might be better in love making.

You claim to be a good driver. Are you good enough to try the driving shown by Hollywood in Scent of a Woman? There should be some big empty parking lot near by. If I was you, I would be curious if I could. Just some thoughts.

Good luck to everyone,
Dave

Bruce,
I'm fairly new to the posting part, but I've been a reader for some time........After reading all these threads, I am amazed at some of the arrogance of some people............You know what, I love my car...but it is just a car. People like Rob Schermerhorn are invaluable to people such as myself. His expertise and know how are always appreciated and are 9 out of 10 times, right on the money.....the bottome line is this. All of us would like this F-Chat to be a community. One of our family is ill right now and no matter what your personal feelings toward him, there isn't one person out there that would trade his sight for his automobile. Grow up!! Bruce you're in my prayers and I have added your name to our church prayer list praying for a speedy recovery. Good Luck!

Dave: Get over it.

Actions speak louder than words. Your insistence on kicking Bruce while he's down says all I need to know about who you are.

As far as Ed Gault goes, he didn't leave F-Chat because of Bruce. He clearly stated that he left because he didn't think it was right for non-Ferrari owners to post on this board. When he sold his 308 he applied his own standards to himself. Besides, Ed could be far rougher on other posters than Bruce ever was.

Isn't it interesting that many of the people whom Bruce was tough on have become his friends? DES and Paul Newman are examples.

Calm down and leave the poor guy alone.

Dave,

No one on this planet deserves what Bruce or anyone else that has a chronic or debilitating illness goes through. How dare you. So some F-car mechanic gets upset and bails and it Bruce's fault? You still get information about your car that you worship so drop it. There is a point where the car becomes secondary in life. It sounds like you still have to learn that. Maybe in your 7th or 8th life time.

Good Job Dave... Keep ignorance alive.

You were the one who earlier had attacked me about things that were not true. You seem to take anger out on others, to seek targets for your anger. A good example would be the Ferrari mechanic who left the board. I found him quite helpful. He send me pages of information off list. Gave me some great advice. We still occassionally communicate. The list lost a good source of information.

When I first heard about your illness, my first emotion was it serves you right. The Universe is making things right.

However, when I realizied that your illness was not going to be healed in a short period of time, I started to feel sorry for you. Sorry might not be the right word, but I cannot think of another one right now. I started to put myself in your shoes. That is the reason for the change in feelings.

I do not insult people by nature, just when I am insulted and attacked.

As for productivity, I have already done more than most people do in 5 or 6 lifespans.

I think you are a sadistic bully and hide behind words like a stand up guy.

However, I would not wish any Ferrari lover to have problems with their vision.

I hope you recover soon.

Until then, get someone like Andrea or DES to fly (drive) you around in the Ferrari. Should cheer you up. The mind can control the body.

Just got off the horn with the Brucer; he sounds good, he seems to be in positive spirits, but he's still in the same position he was a week or so ago... His follow up went great, everything was positive, but he hasn't gained any sight back... Let's all hope that Bruce makes it through this and he regains his sight, fully...

He mentioned that there are things he can't do like drive- if there's anyone that can sympathize with that, it's me and i know exactly how he feels; his dropped when he mentioned that he still can't drive his TR but that he went and started it up, today...

He's received scores of scores of emails and he said he really appreciates the support, but it's too much of a strain to get back to all those people, especially when he should be resting the ol' eyeball... He really should be resting but he's working, so those of you who know him well, next time you talk to him, bust his chops about that... :-)

Those of you with Ferraris- next time you take a drive, just think of Bruce while you're out; maybe the car gods will hear your thoughts and things will all turn out for the best, for Mr. Wellington...

Bruce, if you can read this, i means you're not following doctor's orders- GO REST...!
:-)
