Dr. Love, best to check the Tech section or post this there. Anyway, here's a recent discussion that might help you: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/112/210695.html?1047180191

Sometimes I have to wrestle with my 1985 308 GTSi qv to get it started. It cranks for a while, then fires. This is much more frequent after I have been driving it and then let it rest for a brief period of time. Today, however, crank, crank, crank...nothing. It had been only about 2 minutes since I shut it off. I thought it was flooded, so I let it sit. It seemed like it wanted to start, so I let it rest some more. After about 2 hours of cranking and resting, there was no hope. When I pulled the plugs, they weren't wet. They were filled with carbon, so I brushed them, but it didn't help. The car has backfired three or four times in the recent past, so that may have fouled some plugs. This ever happen to anyone? There a trick to fixing it? Does it have to go to the shop? It was humbling having my 308 towed on a flatbed 45 miles back home. Last thing, it was about 70 degrees today, if that helps your diagnosis. |
