While at the factory in Nov. we were told the body is fabricated in the town of Modena and transfered to Maranello for body completion. All the workers in the area working on the body in Maranello appeared Italian and spoke Italian. Understand that Ferrari has a rotating program for the factory workers. They work on different assembly stages of the car at various times. This presumably will produce a better product because mistakes in assembly can be caught later by workers who had worked previously in that area. |

I agree with the Alcoa thing, but the Germans do have a hand in the aluminum end of the 360. When the 360 came out they were sending over head mechanics and body men from the authorized dealerships over to Germany to learn about the aluminum frames and bodies, so even though Alcoa is American, the Germans seem to be controlling it over there. There are a lot of German parts and tech in newer Ferraris, which is probably why they actually run nowadays. |

I understand that the German division of Alcoa has a contigent of its German employess at Ferrari that do most of the assembly of the aluminum chassis and body of the 360. They claim that the Germans won't let the Italian workers come close to their area in the factory where the work is being done. Any one out there have more info on this ? |
