I think these guys missed the cam-timing operation because it is somewhat involved to do. Even when I put new belts on, the cam marks didn't line up, that means unbolting the pulleys and rotating them until the belt is tight and one of the dowel-holes lines up. Quite tedious and time consuming (tried several different combinations of dowel-holes. Once placed, you have to turn the engine over two revolutions to determine cam mark alignment). I guess they're too lazy.

Mark, I don't know how you're planning to get to LV, but if I were doing your drive, I'd head east out of Colorado Springs past Pikes Peak, then cut north to do Hoosier Pass to Breckenridge, then I-70 to Copper Mountain, south over the pass towards Leadville, then cut back up over Tennessee pass. You hit I70 again just West of Vail and drive Glenwood Canyon. I drove Tennessee yesterday, it was a riot! You'd be doing a bit of a zig zag to get in all 3 passes, but it would be worth it!

This trip will be a big adventure - but I may take a spare water pump! In all honesty my 308 feels pretty darn solid and runs fine!! Last time I was at Ferrari of Denver they had an M6 up on jack stands, someone had stolen the wheels!! Not in the best part of town...also seemed that most of their storage was outdoors and exposed to the elements.

Prior owner of my car had 30k done, also did not set timing or valve adjustment, I had to re-do entire 30k + timing gears, feels like a new car!

Jim, den't worry they do have a good paintless dent repair shop, I know I've been there, and without too much fuss they did get it repaired but I had to do all the running.

Mark, I've driven my 308 from Westminster to Boulder and haven't had a break down.

I am about to drive (foolishly I think) my 308 from Colorado Springs to Las Vegas and back. Has anyone, ever, driven a Ferrari more than a hundred miles or so without major break down? Or should I pass on this dream....?

Hey Michael, you just ruined my day. I picked up my 'new' 328 on Wednesday from the dealership in Salt Lake City, then I drove it to Denver on Thursday. After 2 canyon runs and 3 mountain passes, the water pump blew as I rolled into Denver. My car, now 48 hours old, is at the Denver dealership being repaired to the tune of about $1500. Now I'm concerned about it's safety there! I live in Dallas and won't see the car again until next Wednesday! I hope I sleep...

Bit of a drive, but I seem to have had good luck with Concours Cars in Colorado Springs

Can anyone recommend a GOOD and reliable Ferrari mechanic/technician in the Denver Co. area. I live in Westminster, near Boulder so would prefer that area. I've had my '80 308 dented twice (good size dents and scratches) at Ferrari of Denver, and when timing belts were replaced they did't set timing sooo.. they had to go back and do it again, at my expense!
