DES -- Here's a couple of shots of the (totally inadequate IMO) stock TR dead pedal (which is just a bent piece of 1/16" material covered with a thin piece of rubber that's glued on):

A nicely upgraded footbox gives back a little pleasure every time you get in IMO...

DES,

I suppose its purely down to aesthetics. Any set of pedals be them mine or anyone elses, really does transform the foot well of the car. Once a set of pedals is fitted the only thing that is left that is rubber in that area is the dead pedal. The Aluminium ones that I make kind of completes the look of the foot well.

Please forgive my ignorance, but what purpose does this serve...? There's a space in my car to the left of the pedals for one of these 'dead pedals', just as those seen in the picture(s) below, but i'm totally oblivious to what difference putting a metal plate over it makes... Could someone expound a bit...? i'd really appreciate it... Thanks...

Ron,

Do you have the part number for the Factory Mondial Dead pedal? or does anyone else know - have tried to find it on the Ferrari parts website - but no joy.

The LHD348 non-spider pedals are all done and are in stock. The LHD348 Spider Dead pedal is being prototyped as of today. The 308 dead pedal is nearly there and will be posting a pic of that when it is done. (Steve M - I have not forgot about the TR!)

I have had quite a few emails regarding these and I need to apologize to anyone to whom I have not responded. I have had a few problems with my emails where some messages have been disappearing!!
I will aim to reply to everyone by the end of the week! Thanks for your understanding!!!!

Stephen,

The dead pedal for the 308 is still in design! - On the email I sent you it was to confirm that the pedals that you had ordered were in stock and would be shipped Monday!! Sorry for any confusion

I can see a war breaking out on these!!! Like the first day of the Harrodss sales!!!Upload

I am dedicating the best part of this weekend in finishing off the designs that I have not completed.

The 308 will be the next one after the prototype of the LHD348 spider, RHD348, and TR bearing in mind that it only takes 2-3 hours to do a prototype, I would like to think that by late nest week we will see the one for the 308!

Thanks

Paul, I have not forgotten about the picture for the Mondial. The car is in the shop now to do among other things, install the pedals. It sounds like you do not need a picture for the Mondial, though.

I am looking at a 512TR this weekend, though. My wife said I could buy it if I wanted to, could afford it, etc. She did say I would have to sell the Mondial if I got it though. We'll see about that. :-)

John,

I believe that I said that they would be a few weeks away - The LHD 348 non spider type was all ready to go and we had a space to fit them - started today - Then it will be the TR prototypes and then the 348 spider - Watch this space! - Pictures will be posted!
Thanks for the comments on the pedals & gate much appreciated.

Also John, & others who are interested, can I ask a favour can you send me a confirmation of order via email with the car type and specify LHD/RHD I just want to make sure that everyone gets the right thing!!

Does anyone know if there is a variation between the 512TR and the 512M - I am sure the M has the Ali pedals as standard but not sure about the similarity of the dead pedals! - Please let there be one type that is the same on 2 cars!!!! :-)

Thanks all on the interest.

Steve,

Thanks for correcting me it was late!! Out of interest what is the 512 like?

J R K,

The spider is different than the rest of them have posted a pic of the metal dead pedal from Ferrari also shows the RHD variant. Will post a pic of the spider prototype next week.

Philip,

The 348 non-spider type are being machined as we speak I have taken 2 orders for these already and will be shipping them out by the end of next week. I will email you back.

As promised - Here is the production model of the LHD 348 (non-spider) dead pedal.

I am at present doing the prototypes for the RHD 348, LHD 348 Spider and the 512

I am working with Steve Magnuson on the 512 Dead Pedal (thanks Steve) and I am sure Steve will take a picture of the pedal once it is fitted to his car.

The 308, 328 and Mondial have not been forgotten about and are being drawn up as I write this!! Prototypes to follow.

The prices on the Dead pedals are 25.00 each and will come with all the required fixings to match the pedal.

Thanks for all the interest on this,

Paul

Paul:
The part number for the dead pedal on a LHD 328GTS is #62504800 and is shown on TAV123. This is for the later (after chassis #76626) cars. If you happen to have one of these in stock, I'll take it...even though I plan to order a metal dead pedal from you once you make them for the 328 series.
Incidently, four different part #'s are given. It appears the GTB and GTS are different as well as both listing early vs. late styles.

Chris & Mike

I need a bit of help on the 308/328 - On the 348 there is a metal plate that is screwed in place with a rubber moulding on the front - I have an old 308 parts manual that is not quite complete - all it shows is one piece.
Do you know how the dead pedal is fixed or a part number for it?

Paul, I will take a picture.

I also agree with Phil, the 1.5 looks better in my mind. I might even prefer it to have only a couple of mounting holes but with the cross hatching of the pedals. I think that would look very sharp. Or maybe the number of holes in the 1.5 but with cross hatching.

Here is the Mark 2 !

I believe this will be more likable by all as it matches the gas pedal holes.

I will wait for a few comments from fellow f-chatters before production.

The one in the picture is only for the LHD 348 (Non-spider) - The one for the spider will be next one up for development followed by the RHD (will fit all 348 RHD).

Thanks

Here is the picture that Phil sent.

Its a bit "raw" in my eyes but it does the job in that application.
It looks as though it has no holes in the middle of the pedal - I will probebly duplicate the pattern of the gas pedal onto the Mark II & see what it looks like.

I experimented once with polished chrome for the food rest in my 308 and it looked nice. However the chrome gets dirty very fast in a rainy day and so I decided to stay with the black rubber instead.

Have seen some chrome plates in customized 360, also on the passenger side. Looks kinda funny there with no other pedals to match.

Need some feedback on the prototype!

This is only for the LHD 348 (as far as I know) - I believe the spider is different (according to the parts list).

Had a quick look on the 308, 328, 355 etc and they all seem to be different. (RHD are also different!)

If anyone has any pictures they could send me of different footwalls, I would be forever grateful!

Thanks

Paul
