You're right Willis. Sorry about that.

When I said 360's I meant the coupe and the spyder. I forgot about the Stradales.

I think the only 360 the dealers will take deposits on currently is the 360 Challenge Stradale. From what I've heard, exact US version specs are still unknown and unit allocation will be very limited.

Pat, In fact I like the 206, 246 and 308GT4 much better than the 360 . I just like the 550 even more.

Opt fot the 550 instead. It is ten times the car for less money on the used car market. And, in the long run, since it is a V12 and a rarer car, it will be worth more. IMHO, it looks better too !

You can buy one slightly used for $ 205,000 today.
or buy a EURO car converted for about the same or less new.

Apollo- I hear you about a used car. My 355 spider is the first used car that I have bought in over 25 years. After considerable research, I went on the new car list and decided to wait 3 years. My pet peeve- paying over MSRP for any car. I got a case of the Ferrari itch and took care of it with a 355 spider and I am glad I did. My spider looks and drives like a new car. You will not be buying a 360 spider at MSRP any time soon.

You can't place an order for one. All allocations of 360s of any type are sold out, and have been for a while. Not even 3 years will get you one.

Ferrari dealers are not allowed to sell a new car above MSRP. So the dealership get them "used" and sells them at considerable mark up. Used of course, meaning brand new and nobody having driven it. :-)

Ferrari is not taking deposits for the next iteration of the 360 yet. Rest assured, when it does, the list will fill up very quickly.

Apollo, are you really intent on getting a 360 or are you just doing a mental exercise right now? Your posts are making it sound like like you are having a very spur of the moment idea... almost as if you just inherited a ton of money on Monday. Found out on Tuesday that a company called Ferrari existed and then Wed. found a Road and Track Magazine with a 360 spyder review. Then decided Wed. night you wanted to buy one. If you have been following Ferraris and the 360 for even a couple months, you probably would have known most of the answers already.

The replacement looks like it's going to be called the 420. Deposit you should call the dealer and buying someone else's position is probably anybody's guess. Maybe a call to an autobroker might help. Regards--- John

BYW- in case it's not obvious, I am ribbing you a bit but not intending it to come off as mean.

would the next one be called 365 modena spider?.. wouldn't that be kinda weird since there already is a ferrari with similar name.

how much is the deposit? Btw, i heard some people sell their positions, any idea where i could get them and how much are they?
btw, thank you for the comment on the 355, Lapeter :-). But I have a pet peeve about owning used stuff.

ETA= estimated time of arrival. Call ferrari of Houston and tell them you want to put down a deposit on this generation spider or the model after it and to give you an idea of the wait.

There's a lot of smart people with a lot of money chasing too few cars, so... There's no real way to get around the situation. On a hot model, you wait a while or pay way over retail. Same situation really on any hot car that comes down the pike... just the gouging seems to be higher on F Cars--- John

ETA- estimated time of arrival. I am on the list and have been for 9 months and I still have a min 2 year wait. Most dealers won't even put you on the list. Call a couple of Ferrari dealers and see if they will put you on the list. I just bought a 355 spider until my number comes up. You might want to do that. The 355 is a fabulous car.

So the only possible way of getting a 360 spider right away is to buy an used one?
btw.. what's an ETA?

wow... a 3 year wait.. are you sure its not 3 months? How many do they make a year?.. you know, before the time will be over, there will be another spider out. Is it possible to get on the list of the next spider right now? (considering the fact that if i'm the first for the next one, i'll only be a 2 year wait, while if i'm on list for the current one, it'll be a 3 year wait)

1) There are very few accessories to buy. The car comes loaded.
2) There is a 3 year waiting list for a 360 spider at MSRP. good luck getting on it.
3) If you want one NOW be prepared to pay the premium. you'll get a "used" 360 (mine had 500 miles on it) and pay 225-250k. While dealers can't sell new cars above MSRP they can sell "used" ones at any price they can get.

Having said the above I don't for one instant regret paying a 70k premium. It's a blast. Just don't spend the rent money.

Quick answers. Traditionally, to get an indemand Ferrari at list from an Authorized dealer requires a deposit and a lengthy wait. You can call a dealer and ask them to give you an ETA on such a car.

Many instead buy cars "used" on the open market, and they often command much greater prices than list.. but then no wait of course. That's how the game is played. Same thing as you'll see on hot Merc Models FWIW --- John

Hi everyone, i'm new to this board. Lately, i've been looking up a lot about ferrari's. I was wondering how come on websites like auto.yahoo.com and autos.msn.com say that the msrp of a 360 modena spider f1 is around 180k while the used ones that some people are selling go for 225k? Are there any dealer mark ups on it? Or is it that they put every possible accesory on their spider? If so, is it possible to go to a dealer and deposit some money a spider with no accesories on it? If so, how long would it take for me to get it after depositing it?
sorry to ask so many questions, but since www.ferrari.com doesnt answer a lot of my questions, and neither does www.ferrariofhouston.com i came across this forum after trying to search for help.
