If they left it alone, that's gotta say something about Pinninfarina's ability to make a shape like the 288 GTO and be able to hit speeds of 200 mph! Makes you wonder about the Evoluzione and the F40? I guess these generated more downforce/less drag. But just doesn't seem to have those "pure" lines of the GTO. |

I'm not sure which one they did in '89. This "GTO" is a brand new design. They've done a 308 with GTO body that hit 200 mph. This was back in the 80's and may be the one in R&T. It holds some land speed records. |

Is that the Norwood Dragster? That appeared in the R&T Ferrari Special of '89. That one had a supercharger. |

He's the kid here in Dallas that invented Doom. He's had about 5 Ferraris, most of them with turbos. His current project is unbelievable. I think a TR engine in a 308 with GTO body pannels, plus twin turbos. Initial estimates are 1200+ hp. |

Good Lord, a turbo F50!?! I guess when you have all of that money and no more ideas left... |

Norwood has turbocharged a few 328's, 348's, and a F50. Most of their turbos go in 308's though. |

No it is not Norwood. Check out http://www.nicksforzaferrari.com/nicksforzaferrari001.htm |

A while back, I posted some messages on the old 'Expensive Car' site concerning our 328 engine development project. We've supercharged a few 328 engines, and are producing 350-400 HP. Perhaps this is what you recall? I'm not aware of any other non-race configured 308 or 328 engines producing in this power spectrum. Several people have turbocharged the 308 with varying degrees of success. I don't know of anyone else modifying the 328 to date -- but if anyone is monkeying around -- it's probably Norwood. Give him a call, he's a very approachable fellow. |

It is probably due to design restrictions. Using the existing intake manifold gives you a nice straight port. If installing a SC like ones installed on American V-8's, would leave little room for the manifold. Unless you go the hillbilly-style route and have the blower stick out from the deck-lid (very cheesy)! My personal opinion is is just easier to use existing parts and plumb the turbo into the system (cheaper too). |

I got a very rough estimate for my 328, it was around 15k. I asked the same question about the turbo vs. sc and they really recommend the turbo for Ferrari. I think whenever the factory gets away from natural aspiration they always use a turbo as well (288 GTO and F40). I don't hear of many Ferraris being supercharged. Although, like for my BMW, supercharging is the best way to go. I just don't know why. |

Rob: Any idea what Norwood Performance is charging for that kind of stuff. I suspect that price and performance is not in a relationship that anybody here in this forum could be interested in. I would not recommend a turbo but rather a supercharger as it is easier to install and to maintain. But some people like myself are looking for engine performance and then you have to do work to the top of the engine inc. intake and exhaust modifications. Regards, Christian |

The best way is a turbo with using a stock engine. Norwood Perfomance and other people do very reliable turbos that give you 75+ hp. They're working on an engine now that will give 1200+ hp out of a TR engine. |

Hello: Recently someone post a message stating they will reach 350 HP on a 3.2 Mondial. I would like to know how this will be done! Thanks. |
