Oh, and by the way: It took nearly a year for this car to sell. It needed quite a bit of work so I don't know how much of a problem (if any) the color combo was. |

OK...It's not red/red but it was different than the usual. I saw and test drove this 308 about a year ago in NY. It's a custom brown interior with red piping. Supposedly it was ordered that way from the factory.

OK...Let me qualify my statement. I don't think you would ever see a US 328 that's Red on Red. I've seen color combos on European cars that are not available in the US. But then again, I've been wrong before. |

To me white is more valuable than red. I LOVE pure white cars. |

I don't care how much you spend. Unless you are willing to tear the car totally apart , it will never look like a factory paint job. And even then you will end up with a red on red 328. I don't think i've ever seen one of those. I agree with Jack. Sell the white one and buy a red one. |

Disclaimer: Just my thoughts - no experience. From what I have seen online and looking my car over. It is very expensive to get a good quality re-paint, especially when changing colors. (I'm sure you knew that). If it is not an extremely high quality job, it would make the car worth considerably less. If it is an extremely high quality job, I doubt it would make the car worth more, but it may not make the car worth less. If you did want to sell it, I think the red one would move faster than a white one. (like you said- resale red) Since you are not selling it and you want a red Ferrari, I say go for it. If you spend 5-7k for a paint job, will you get 5-7k of enjoyment out of it? It would probably end up costing more than a paint job to sell your car and buy a red one. And you KNOW your car.

Why not compare the cost with trading in for a red one. With what you would spend for a proper repaint, you could easily find the car you want and maintain the original white of your current 328. I know there are white-bodied fans out there who would buy it. 2 cents. |

Your thoughts and experience is appreicated. I am toying with the thought of having my 89 328gts repainted. The current paint is in excellent condition. I would make sure that the job was documented with several pictures but what impact does it have on value when you change the color with a high quality repaint? My car is currently white with red interior and I'm thinking of changing it to resale red (I'm not selling it). Maybe I have sold out. Apreciate your thoughts and comments. Thanks! |
