"Never mind the length; feel the width!" ;-) I believe the 355 is about 8 inches wider, and that the 360 is wider still. Do you have those figures? |

Just as a comparison, my F355 is a full 10" shorted than a Viper GTS and a full 13" shorter than a C5 Corvette. Big they are not--wide they are in spades; although I get more claustraphobic (traffic wise) in my Vette than in my F355. The size of the 308/328 are fine for 140 MPH cars, but as we pass 180 MPH and approach 200 MPH, wheelbases and car lenght need to be adjusted for adequate stability at these speeds. Dropping F360 engine in a 308/328 would make for a really fun car, now if they could only get the weight down into the 2600 lb range........provide modern aerodynamics.......and price it like the 328 of old....... |

Frank: The London streets route I enjoy the least (but sometimes there is no alternative) is through the Rotherhithe tunnel (under the Thames). This was built around 1900, has the width bollards Ross mentions, and is clearly not designed for the width of modern traffic. Having said that, I once saw a Diablo down there! How he managed that I'll never know, but I guess it must have been worth it for the fantastic noise :-). Dave: I agree. A 328 that goes (almost) like a 360 would be idealfor those who don't need to carry golf clubs and don't mind a few contortions getting in and out. (I don't fit in my 328 with the roof on - but that's okay :-)). Ken: I agree with you on the steering, but sometimes wish it was a bit quicker, but I imagine if they had made the rack any quicker, the wheel would be too hard to turn at low speed w/o power steering. I LOVE the noise, but even so, I think the 355 has it trumped in this department. I bought a sports exhaust to up the volume a little, but I've grown used to it (in only 10 months!) and now I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust to something louder ;-). |

On the Barrett-Jackson Exotic Auction on Speed one of the commentators claimed that a friend of his bought a new TR in Italy and drove it home to London, put it in his garage and never drove it again as he claimed it was too wide to drive on London streets. |

Agree with Dave. The 328 with it's tube frame and VERY direct steering has a visceral appeal quite different from the later cars. I have had mine almost 3 years and have yet to learn how the stereo works. Too much fun listening to all that music from behind the firewall! |

nebula, and that one inch makes all the difference.....i can't get through the bollards set up on some london streets. they are set at 6.5 feet and thats just too tight. i have to pull a u turn, whoch is also not the easiest thing in that car with the turning radius stuck on large. but i still love it.... |

I sold a Testarossa to a guy who said he'd never buy one because the rear was too wide. He wanted a 360. I then pulled out the tape measure and measured the rear of a 360 and the reat of a TR. The Tr was about one ince wider. The "little" V8 road cars have gotten quite large... |

I used to have a 348, but went back to a 328. They are truly the last "cars you wear" and that does appeal to me. 348/355's are actually a little shorter, but the wheelbase is longer and, of course, they are wider, especially at the rear. I was disappointed the 360 came with such a large exterior dimension. Seems to me it could have been 308/328 sized and a few hundred pounds lighter. I think the tube frame/transverse motor Dino derived Ferraris are gone forever and that's too bad, but it makes the 206-328 series pretty special in my opinion. Dave |

personally i like the smallness / tightness of the 328 (355's with their power steering make me feel like I'm driving a Caddy) i think that's one of the reason's it holds its value (all the smaller Ferrari's tend to hold their value better) IMHO |

John, the 355 is the same wheelbase and overall length as the 328, if perhaps a couple of inches wider. Get a 355!! You'll love it. |

John, I didn't have a problem with the 360 on narrow roads in London, You'll soon get to know the proportions of the car....Believe me California's cracked/potholed roads & the most ridiculous carpark ramps ever seen are a far greater threat to your Ferrari enjoyment....The biggest problem in London is yobbish gits that want to scratch/key the car |

I guess this one is addressed mostly to 348/355/360 drivers: I'm the proud owner of a beautiful, low-mileage 328GTS which I am absolutely thrilled with, and I love the classic looks. However, with good LHD 355s now dropping below 40K, the idea of another 100+HP and an extra 1000RPM from that masterpiece, screaming engine is very tempting. One of the downsides however is the size! I live in England (central London actually!) with all the over-crowded and narrow roads that comes with it, and I fear that the sheer size of the 355 (never mind the even larger 360 :-)), might spoil the driving enjoyment somewhat. Do any ex-246/308/328 drivers have any thoughts to share on the move to the "big-league"? Best wishes, John |
