DES, On the 360 I believe that the dummy spare is an option ($600). A full spare will not fit in the storage compartment, I don't know what you do with the damaged tire and wheel if you have to change the tire. I don't know about the 456, but I would bet a spare is an option as well. Most Ferraris come with a can of Fix-a-flat and I have heard that to replace the can through Ferrari it is $300. Most people put this can on a shelf in the garage and go to Autozone and buy a $7 can to use if nessesary.

Kind of strange to me when I checked out the Ebay auction of the Black 95' 456GT. Why didn't the bidders use the buy-it-now option for US$70k instead as the existing bid price is $65+K already.

The car looks great but there seems to be the same old alignment problem on the door/window on picture no.5. (check out the gap between the window and the b-pilar)

Cheers

Stunning color combination! 456 is the true daily driver and the price is a bargain.

Hopefully one of the F-chatter could get it.

WOW! That color combo is stunning... the paint also looks really good, but I'm not sure if that is a function of the photo or not

Boom...! Another good question... Damn, i love this board...

Greg- although, i have absolutely no idea, whatsoever, at all, in any way, here's what i would assume: The big tray of metal tools, inside its leather case, inside that box probably weigh about the same as a spare tire, so the weight of the tire probably doesn't affect performance... Unless of course, the weight of the tools would, but assuming that they're both similar in weight and that a spare tire doesn't weigh much, i would go with no... Hopefully, though, we can get a definite answer from a "qualified professional"... :-)

Does the spare tire affect the performance of the car, by adding extra weight?????

The spare tire on the 456 was an option.
On thing that is different on this one from the one that I had is the ashtray on this one has a place to put your finger. The one that I had had a flat top. You pressed down on it to open it. I wonder if this is an earlier or later design.

DES - Good eye, I think your right. I also noticed the "shrink" on the A/C controls on Pic 16.

Jordan - At first the color was a little shocking, but the more I look at it the more I like it.

Brad- in picture 19, they show the tools in the trunk- that space is round... Shouldn't a spare tire go there...? Just wondering...

Tim don't be so quick to write off the 456. It has the same running gear as, and only a few less horsepower than, the 550. The V12s are GT cars, not sportscars like the V8s.

Major issue on the 456 is the side window sealing which is a VERY EXPENSIVE fix. Make sure yours has been done before buying or allow a few thousand to get it done right.

Many feel the 456 is one of Pininfarina's better efforts. For 70K it's one hell of a car.

Yeah but you can still buy an M5 for much less. If you are going to buy only 1 ferrari, buy one that is a sportscar.

Its great to hear prices are falling, not for the owners, but the 456 has always been one of my favorites and now its almost a doable purchase!

I'm told that early 456s, e.g., '95-'98 had lots of little, frustrating problems. Before taking the V-12 plunge with my 550, I looked at an '01 456, with 218 miles for sale in Pa. The asking price was $159K, and that was last fall. At $125K, I'd think a '00, or an '01 would be a very sweet car!

456 Prices are really falling. Steve Harris Imports had a car for $79,000 a few weeks ago. If I remember right it had around 20k miles. Not sure if its still there. A deal on a V-12 car for sure. Not my favorite Pininfarina design but from all accounts a solid GT car. At these prices it is looking very attractive.

Wow... what's the catch? Are the prices on the 456's really coming down this much? Was 95 a good year for these cars?
