I guess since I started the original thread I ought to have the courtesy of giving everyone an update
I've had an extremely difficult time getting the factory tool (4 months) and after some quick help from a lead from this chat room I contacted Baum Tools of Sarasota, FL. They carry a number of Ferrari tools including a kit as well as dedicated sockets for wing and octagonal spinoff center nuts. Well I received the kit (in part) but unfortunately the saga goes on, its missing my octagonal socket for my TR. They're working on it and have been very friendly. Schools not out yet but I'm expecting the remaining parts soon. I'll let everyone know the results.

Just for reference, the pics in the earlier thread represent a close facsimile of the socket I did receive. The parts appear to be German, Stahlwille. HOPEFULLY I'll get the tool so I can report back!

Frank - one would need a sledge hammer to remove 400 lb-ft. I do not doubt your figure, as it is in the range of TR's 325. Just seems like if anything, it should be equal to or less than the TR. No engineering basis to this thought, however.

I was told by FOA that the BBi correct torque was 400 lb-ft.

Steve - there is no torque specification published, either in owner's manual or workshop manual, for the C4 or the Boxer knockoff. The TR is specified at 325 foot-pounds. However, the TR is a nut, where as the C4 and BBi are bolts (or the opposite). May not make a difference, but I am reluctant to bring anything to 325 foot-pounds (quite a bit) without a design (mechanical) engineer giving her blessing.

Where is the best place to get this spinoff tool and a 42mm octagonal socket?

Jim S. -- Can't think that the others you seek would be vastly different if the diameters, threads, and clamping faces are somewhat similar to the TR (325 ft-lb). Is there nothing listed in the appropriate/near OMs on the Owner's site? (or perhaps it's not specific? -- e.g., "# of blows"?)

Does anyone know the torque specification for the wing nut, and for the octagonal nut for C4?

I got an interesting fabricated tool with mine. I will post a picture tomorrow. Looks like a large socket with some notches cut that attaches to a 3/4" breaker..

James: Then it must have been David Feinberg. Contact him. He has a very nice unit......machined out of teflon and steel, just for the Boxer.

He has a 365 BB.

James: I thought you had a spin-off tool for the Boxer wing nuts. Wasn't it you who sent me a picture of it......a homemade affair?

Brad - have you received your spin-off tool? I am interested in a tool for the wing nut and for the octagonal nut/bolt. Please share your experience.

Thanks.
