Fredrick,

I live in Southern California and I have very nice 1989 Testarossa for sale. It has been meticulously maintained with the complete service history well documented by Ferrari Service of Costa Mesa (Michael). The car has 17K miles and runs excellent. Here are a few pictures:

Fredrick:
Don't touch that car. With no signitficant service history and/or major service you don't know what you are running into. Let one of the reputable car finders find one for you, or contact Nick Scianna or Tony Paladino to do that for whatever it costs.
Otherwise the chances for a nightmare are pretty good.
A fellow TR owner,

Fredrick -- Only "stay away" if the selling price doesn't reflect the lack of service/condition (and the other factors -- e.g., lack of mech updates, single-lug, colors, if applicable). If it's a US version with decent colors and cosmetics (other than the front clip being a bit chipped), IMHO ~$40K would be a bit of a gift to the seller because you're probably looking at a major service + more ($10K total?) to have a shop restore it to a well-sorted mechanical condition and get the front clip refreshed -- I'm sure this will not match the seller's $ expectations, but there are so many TR's out there, if I was selling a single-lug TR, IMHO an effective $50K total offer would not be an unreasonable place to start (and maybe end too!).

PS I can recommend Tony Palladino at Modena Motors in Redwood City without reservation for your inspection needs (but his schedule is usually very busy).

Hello:
I am located in San Jose California. Does anyone know a good shop for inspection before I buy a TR?
I am looking at an 87TR with about 19k on it. However, the last owner did not do any major service on it. The car really need a good wax, there are a lot of paint chips in the front. The seller will split the cost for service. Should I stay away from the car because lack of service? Assume the price is right after all the service being update. Also, how much is 15 and 30k(with water pump)service?
Thanks
