Hmm, I'm not so sure about that. I personally think that the results were just a fluke because of the rain... We will see with the rest of the season. |

Speed uses the global feed which is supplied by the local track. (which also explains why coverage at Indy is so much different, Bernie allows ABC to use his feed for their broadcasts. I am undecided about the new rules. At first, I hated how they were shaking thing up with regard to excellence being rewarded but I must say, I enjoyed watching Australia more than any other race since Donnington in 91? (Pretty sure I have not missed a race in more than 15 years...so it was some feat.) - JMG |

Frank, I think they may be trying a new strategy on the new rules.....qualify really fast, then duck in within the first couple of laps to switch over to the right tires and fuel load. I think this would be the best way to go if the weather looked uncertain....otherwise Briatori was just looking for some extra camera exposure for Renault (Renult=French=Sucks=Can't Do It The Honest Way). I HATE THESE NEW RULES WHICH BRING IN THE ELEMENT OF LUCK....WHY CAN'T THE BEST JUST BE REWARDED FOR BEING THE BEST???? Not Ferrari's fault if the rest of the field can't make the race competitive. |

Don't blame Speed Channel for the telecast's shortcomings. They are merely presenting us what they are provided. This is nothing new in F1 broadcasting. At least we got to ride along on Michael's run, albeit from the mirror-cam. I think we actually owe them thanks for freezing up on Ralf's try. |

I agree. Very poor coverage. The feed also went out during Ralf's run. Amazing that I can watch perfect video from combat in Iraq but I can't watch F1 without glitches. I don't like the fact that the announcers are in a studio and not at the track, also the fact Speed has no control over which shot we see. With the new multi-year contract with Speed for F1 broadcasts I think that all of us F1 fans need to pester Speed to improve the coverage. I realize that Max and Bernie are calling the shots but with the return of the US GP you would think they would really want to do a better job with the coverage. There are a bunch of open wheel fans that are caught up in the CART (Champ Car) vs. IRL battle. This would be a prime time to generate interest in F1. I really beleive that a US driver is coming to F1 soon as well. My $.02 |

Too bad Speed Channel's coverage was so lousy. As soon as Schumi took to the track, the video feed went dead. They got the video back, but did not have the audio for his entire run. At the moment his run ended, full video and audio returned. Thanks Speed Channel. |
