Sorry, mistake about the accent, I meant they drag the first syllable longer, and I also meant to say all sounds are pronounced, as Barney suggested, so Scuderia isn't "scooter ria" but Scooo day reeee Ahhhh. Again, southerners may pronounce different; I kinda got this nearly direct from the Cavallino's mouth. |

My pronunciation comes from asking Luigi Chinetti Sr. many years ago, and from having lived near Modena for a bit. Most northern Italian words accent the second syllable more strongly than the first, hence mo DEN ah, sccoo DAY reee AHHH. |

Most Italian words are pronounced just as you see them. Only the accents change depending on the number of syllables in the word or in some cases if it has a 'z' in it. In strict Italian the waiter is correct. Il Dio benedice tutti noi! |

Depends if he was from the North, or from the South. Accents vary more widely than they do here between North and South. Emilia district like Boston Brahmin accent, while Napolitanos sound like Appalachin. Low ca tellll EEEE versus Lugggaaahhhh DeLL. |

I know this is nit-picky and boring but I wanted to through it out there anyway: The word "Scuderia", I've herd it pronouced: scuu-deer-e-ah...and: Scooter-ria. I was at an Italian restaurant last night and I wrote down the word and asked my very off the boat Italian waiter to pronounce it, he said:..............(drum roll)...scooter-Ria. I know this isn't the best thread, but I figured someone out there might want to know |
