Finally!! I was notified today that my application was accepted. The problem seemed to center around them listing the engine type as F106A 040. I have no idea what the 040 part is all about, as it isn't shown on anything that I have.

I think it's going to be the oil that will convince them it's authentic.

I might be getting closer to a conclusion. I just received the following:

--------------------------------------------------

Dear Mr Hansen,

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

In order to be able to approve your request for the Heritage Certificate, we
would like to ask you to send us the photos of the type of engine and the type
of gearbox of your Ferrari.

We remind you that we remain at your complete disposal for any further
information you may need.

Best regards,

Ferrari Customer Care

OK, I've taken photos. I send them back with my next correspondence.

The photos are unquestionably authentic, because a) the engine has the Ferrari script, and b) the bottom of the gearbox is covered in oil!

Hans,

Aside from re-entering all of the info on the ferrari owners site, perhaps the next step would be to send them a photo of each of the serial number locations on the car. I don't know what else to try.

Have you done anything in this life or a past life to offend the ghost of Enzo???

Steve: When I originally submitted the application, I listed the various types/numbers EXACTLY as in your example. They replied that the type designations were incomplete. ?????

I've since emailed them twice with the appropriate info.

I think as soon as I receive the next response, I'll send photos.

Hans -- I think they're confusing the SN part of your information with the engine/gearbox type suffix (which I think indicates version differences). I can't recall if it's the US or CH TR, but one of those has the engine type F113A 046 for example while there is also a F113A TR engine type. I don't know what the proper suffixes (if any) would be for your 308GT4, but you might try resubmitting your information as:

engine family: F106A
engine SN: 01087
gearbox family: F106AL
gearbox SN: 1102

or

engine family: F106A USA (or whatever) version
engine SN: 01087
gearbox family: F106AL USA (or whatever) version
gearbox SN: 1102

WTF? What numbers do they want? Maybe try:

A000A 1087
A000AY 1102

I think up to this point, try ANYTHING...

Guys: I've been trying to get a Heritage Cerificate for my '75 308GT4. I've been in contact with Italy, to no avail, and this is the latest that I've received.

Does it make sense to any of you? My engine is F106A 01087, and the gearbox is F106AL 1102. And, yes, those #'s are very verbatum from the respective components.

What now?

==================================================

Dear Mr Hansen,

We would like to inform you that the competent department, we have forwarded
your e-mail to, told us that the data about the engine type and gearbox type
are not completed.

The data are made up of letters and numbers as follows:

Engine type: A000A 000
Gearbox type: A000AY 00

We also inform you that the type of engine is punched on top of the crankcase,
behind the water pump.

The type of gearbox is punched in the lower part of the gearbox itself, on the
right rear corner (in order to see it, it is necessary to lift the car).

Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Best regards,

Ferrari Customer Care
