Terry, what I meant was that most people look for the wheels to determine if the car likely has ABS or not. It was done in a time of upgrades. The ABS came available as an option as far as I remember at that time, later on the 1989 models came as a standard. The outward rims were also an option at one point. And yes, I believe the reason was upgraded suspension or brakes or somewhat. so much for being precise! LOL

The convex wheels, from what I understand, were used to accomodate upgraded suspention on 88 1/2 and 89 model cars. ABS had nothing to do with the wheels. That might be what martin meant by "not entirely correct". I prefer the look of the concave wheels, but from what I have heard the suspention upgrades where substantial and are worth the convex look. |

Carl, one is bend outward which indicates cahnges to the ABS (although that is not correct entirely), the inward are on the earlier models all without ABS.

yep, Germany is silver. The "Silberpfeil" I though it was Mercedes that stipped them but could have been Auto Union as well. and yellow is totally cool and I love Nika too! |

I have a quick question: Seeing these two very beautiful cars, I can't help to wonder if those are different rims? Was that a factory option or are the larger ones aftermarket and what sizes are they? And by the way: I just adore that colour on that piece of art/car. |

Thanks, too, Marq. No such thing as an "ugly" 328," right? Brad, speaking of colors, I just saw a beige 1986 328GTS (29K miles, $37k) at ebay. Never thought a 328 existed in beige... |

I think Silver is the German color. If I remember the story correctly it was changed to Silver when AutoUnion stripped the paint on their cars to make them lighter. I could be wrong though. The US is white with a blue stripe I believe. I did have a little chart somewhere that listed all of the colors. I will try to locate it. |

As I understand with Ferrari (or any european mfg. who is invloved in racing) the car colors have something to do with the nationality of the race team operating the car. Examples: Yellow - Belgium Red - Italy Green - Great Britan Black - Germany Anyone here with more detail about the connection between color and nationality? |

I wasn't a fan of yellow...until I saw one. I think F-cars look nice in yellow. Your 328's are gorgeous. |

Russ - I bought an '87 328 in Giallo last November. It has the original paint code sticker and (as I was told) was specifically ordered by the original owner in yellow because he already had a red Ferrari in the garage. Here's a picture.
PS. Great thread - I knew it was rare - but never realized just how rare. |

My first search crieria was a yellow/black GTB. During my two year search, I came across none! Besides the Dallas GTB, how many others have you all come across? |

They are few and far between. I also am looking for a yellow one. Even harder is if you want a GTB. Almost non-existant. I would settle for a QV or even a 76 - 79 Carb model. Now if the dang stock market would bring me back my Ferrari fund!!!! I am shooting for next year to own. I would next settle for red and I do like that light blue color as well. But no Red on the interior. I do not like red inside. my |

Russ: I had it sanded smooth & painted; eventually. First it was done with the 'grain' apparent but it didn't look the way I had hoped. So, it was take it off, sand it smooth, paint it yellow, and reinstall. Much better, IMHO, after having seen it both ways.

Marq. Yes every single yellow 328 that I became aware of was a 1989. By the way, when you painted the spoiler did you leave the vinyl look which is also on the targa top or did you sand it smooth? |

Russ, were ALL the yllw 328s you came across the '89 version? I'm somewhat 'stunned' by that piece of trivia....interesting. PS. I had the spoiler painted body color; personal preference I guess. |

Marq. That is one beautiful 328 (especially like the body colored spoiler) that you have and it is precisely what I hoped to find. Again, after searching for more than a year I never came across even a reference to a pre-1989 yellow 328 much less one that was for sale. |

Russ: When I went 'shopping' for my Ferrari, I was looking for a Giallo Fly version and would not accept anything else; no compromise. It took me over a 'torturous' year and a half to locate one that was 'acceptable' to me (2 owners, 7K miles, major belt service done, all documentation). I almost 'gave up' a few times along the way but held fast to my criteria. Eventually, it paid off. But, even though it was titled as a 1989, according to the vin # it is a late 1988 (8/88) that has all the '89 updates except ABS. So very glad that I held fast and got exactly what I wanted. But, don't know that I'll be so 'picky' when looking for my next one. After all, they're ALL beautiful! I certainly wasn't aware that most Giallo Fly 328s were '89 versions.

Russ, as rare as they are, I have seen them. One of my favorites was a 87 328 GTB in Giallo Modena (yellow). VERY sharp! I have also seen an 89 GTS that is gorgeous, my friend John Reed had it. Nika and Wade N have yellow 308s that I just LOVE! |

I have had my red 1988 328 for almost a year and am quite happy with it. My first choice however was a yellow version and aside from repaints and some 1989s I have never come across a pre-1989 yellow 328. Any thoughts on this. |
