I have Griots jack and the Ultimate jack, the ultimate is much better for use in the the shop, ultra low and goes deep under the car. I keep Griots on the transporter because it is smaller and lighter.

The Harbor Frieght is great. No complaints here. Needs to get used to releasing it. Comes down very fast. Made for racing I guess. $179 you can not beat it. I actually thought I had seen it for $ 169 in the last flyer they had.

Griot's Garage low profile jack, once you use this jack you won't want to use another. |

BTW for those of you that live in the Washington State, Griot's occaisionally will have "customer returns" on the 'low profile' jack (red with 1.75" saddle height), and you can buy it for %50 off. I picked one up at their outlet store for $189.00 Call first to see what is available. They will not sell them mail order, store pick-up only. Not sure why.

Russ, I have one too but don't confuse it with a good quality jack. The HF jack is fine for lifting the car and changing wheels but it's not the type of jack I would use to remove my engine or some other heavy job. I also have the Griot's jack (the red one with the low saddle) and it's a tad better than the HF jack, though a bit overpriced. The best jack I have used is the aluminum floor jack from Longacre which is what most of the NASCAR and Speed World Challenge guys use. Regards, Jon P. Kofod 1995 F355 Challenge #23

Interesting-- Check out: http://www.asedeals.com/aluminum_jack.html They've got one for $474. They ask, Beware! - Don't be fooled by those no-name, cheap imitations out there. Does it have a hardened billet frame? Does it have double sealed hydraulics? Don't settle for less. By the way, their price is now $189.99. I need to get one of these. The price is right. What do you think, Russ? Truly a quality product? |

Is it really made of aluminum or Chinese "butter metal"? |

I just bought one of these aluminum jacks from Harbor Freight-see their website-for $179 and it is beautiful. Great craftsmanship and functionality. Its 3.5 inch low height easliy gets under my 328. I also believe that it is the same jack that Griot's garage is selling for $499. |
