The people who build the Diasio 962s are the same people who run Putnam Park here in Indiana.

http://www.putnampark.com
They have link to the car site where you can get photos and specs for the three cars they make.
And they also have a message board where you can read some post from some of the owners of their cars.

Last night I had dinner with one of the owners of Radical Sports cars. He is very interested in showing these cars to the Ferrari Club community. (He also confessed to me that they used the 333SP as a model when designing the SR3).

Sometime next month I am going to organize a track day at Grand Bayou (70 miles outside New Orleans) for the Ferrari club. Radical is going to send a car or two for us to try. If we like them, the new orleans group may purchase a few. If you are interested in one of these cars, please come. You will enjoy a great ferrari track day, be able to try one of these cars, and have the opportunity to take advantage of a group discount.

Renault built one of these open wheel racers. A friend of mine was importing them from France.
I think he still has some in Miami. I know I have seen one here and they look cool and are super fast as well.

John, to get around a road course this quick, one needs at least 1.2g lateral acceleration and 1.2g braking. With low but effective aero, a 100 mph corner will pull 1.8g.

Diasio D962 is in this same market. http://www.diasio.com/

I have experience with these cars, and they're pocket rockets, too. Like 15 seconds per lap faster than an F car at most any two mile road course. That's just for the entry version, 150 HP, 1100 lb. They have an "R" version with either 250 or 300 HP and 1300 lb. Starts at 40K or so, check out the site for more info.

Both of these cars show you physics in action: low center of gravity, light weight, high HP/lb. It's what all racers strive for every day.

One can pick nits if you want to compete and must conform to someone's arbitrary rules, but if you just want to go fast, these (Diasio, Radical, etc.) are the hot ticket.

Can anyone here ballpark the performance of the SR3? Lateral g's, acceleration, etc...

i never got to hear it with my car being loud and helmet on. told driver needs ear plugs but limeroc is strict on noise levels and had no problem. i lost my fotos of it but emailed jim to see if he can get them to this site.

i also would love one but not into having to tow. so much easier to just bring my car to track. also wonder what would happen if lost control at speeds this thing is capable of. could be scary but car is really cool.

Agree the Radicals are beautiful cars, especially the SCCA CSR version. I've heard hints of reliability and parts availability issues, but have no first hand info. An outfit that may have some useful info is Formula Cars East, (912) 748-5530, a very reputable and experienced prep shop that I believe was and may still be a Radical dealer (no connection, not even a customer). Also, you could call Jon Mirachi of Racers Edge Motorsports, 970.453.2325 (of which I am a customer), who could give you a complete overview of amateur and lower level pro racing.

I think a number of sports racers may be in the works for the US, for example the Zeus. I believe there is a market for a sub-LMP closed wheel open cockpit car, for racers who want to move up from fairly basic cars but do not want to run open wheel cars. SCCA Pro Racing has just taken over a pro sports racer series called the ACRL, and may offer a decent pro venue for some of these cars. I'd respectfully suggest you shop around and perhaps wait a bit to see how this type of car shakes out. I prefer not to run a motorcycle engine, but that's completely subjective. Again, I think the Radicals are beautiful, they got the look just right.

I'm with you. I have been thinking about buying one. I understand they are the cats meow.

Neal, how did it sound?

I was quoted 60K for the hyabusa engined car, 50k for a 200hp engine..

Neal, there were a pair of Radicals (I'm pretty sure) at Watkins Glen last year for the Labor Day event. One guy had his painted to look like a 333SP (that had been left in the dryer a bit too long). Very attractice, and very, very fast.

vty,

i ran with a Radical sports racer at limeroc the other day and was blown away by it. looks like a 7/8's 333sp with similar roll hoop, air intake, and cage. based on a suzuki hyabusa engine 1000lbs/250hp. would look incredible in red with fcar decals on it. costs $40k i think. guy who sells it in usa is really nice. he helped me last year when my motor blew. no other relation to him but very impressed with car. check it out jim email [email protected]
