Unfortuniately there are many sick people in the word and it is getting worse.

I was consulting for an International Company when the Love Virus hit.

I like McAfee. However, the US Headquarters was protected my McAfee and was badly hit.

The Europe Headquarters was protected by Norton and had no damage.

Norton as a company is easy to deal with, McAfee is very hard to deal with.

Therefore I would recommend Norton.

There are also several free ones out there.

Something is better than nothing.

Unfortuniately it is necessary in today's world.

The tech person for Compaq said that they caught the author of the virus and that he is in a prison in Brazil.

No, am not on U12buy.com.
Neither do I think is Hartmut.

With the about 20 messages I got from the first e-mail sender there were all sorts of topics. Real Estate related and then auto related. It was like the virus could read your send mail box or saw which sites you were on.

It would be interesting to see what sites Herbert and Martin belong to or who may have your EMAIL addresses in their phone book so we could track down the source. You two probably have registered at a same site dealing with Ferraris.

I am of the humble opinion that people who cause this mishief should be locked up for life if not taken out and shot.

At its most simple, they disable some applicaton in your computer in some way.... At its worse, they can cause severe damages to life and property especially when your work has alot to do with computers or where real life situations require computer aided management.

The previous Love virus from the Philipines wiped out my whole office network and I lost invaluable records pertaining to my business to the point where I nearly faced legal action that COULD HAVE RUINED ME.....

And the worse part is we can't take any action against the bastard....

Pls. forgive me for rambling on...

I have Mcafee and it works great. Herb, I would contact Mcafee and tell them what happened. They should at least set you up again at no charge.

I was received the same messages.
They came from somebody that I did not know and I did not open them.
They came with all different headings. It was like the virus could read what I type most on my computer and them gave it a heading with a familiar subject.
Then I received that message also from a friend of mine. He had no clue but it looked like he had opened it before and was already infected and the virus used his address book to spread it. Because I know the text already I did not open it and discarded the message.

I wonder what people get from spreading this ••••. Wouldn't their time and knowledge be more usefull and profitable in different fields? Heck I can not get somebody that is reasonable to work on my websites...

Ed, if you haven't invested in an anti-virus software, now's the time to do it... I strongly recommend it!!! You have insurance on your Ferrari, think of this as insurance for your computer. Check out McAfee or Norton. You can buy it online or at Office Depot, etc. And keep it updated!

The subject was " Some questions I need answered" What is bad is that I was expecting someone to write me who had called and was going to e-mail me some questions. What a coincidence, I really had my guard down.

Herb, Was there any way to I.D. this before it happened or it just said attachment? What was the attachment? Just wondered what we should look for if any way of identifying it.

I will be glad to answer any questions personally that anyone may have to the best of my ability, however I will not open any attached mail without proper full name identification and without subject heading that it is questions for Ferrari.I have killed my computer thinking it was a Ferrari question and turned out to be a Virus. Thank you, Edward Gault
