Tommy and David, I too will walk passed a 355 to look at a 308. The design, the lines, the proportions all speak to me as timeless moving art. In fact, I prefer the design of the 308 over many of the newer models. That is, until the Enzo came out.

I agree 110% and remember any 308 is essentially a 1975 Ferrari look. It's 2003 and it still looks like a modern car to me.

Tommy, I like the 70's and 80's Ferrari cars too! I think Magnum PI had a lot to do with that. I think when a Ferrari is mentioned in conversation the 308 series is what most people first think about. Park a 308 next to any late model exotic and the 308 will hold its own....in looks anyway.

You know what, Hans? I really like those 70's Ferraris. As much as I like the new ones, I'll find myself walking past a new 550 to check out a 81 308. It was those that I chased after as a kid.

Steve: Yeah, I'm talking about the metric units. The pressure reads as "6". I know roughly what it's all about, as the manual gives a rough conversion. Or, better yet, "Gauge straight down: OK. Gauge to the left: Not OK."

So why are there so many Lambos out there that use Km for all of their guages when there are many Euro F-s that have been converted to MPH?

Is that because there are very few U.S. spec Lambos?

Hans -- If you're talking about the oil pressure unit symbol on the gauge looking like a oddballish "6" -- then Rob S.'s previous answer applies. If you're saying the oil pressure gauge numerically reads about "6" then the pressure units of the gauge are probably in "bar" (a quasi-metric unit like your other gauges, but it's not the preferred "modern" metric ISO pressure unit):

6 bar = 87 psi = a reasonable mid-high RPM F oil pressure

Oil pressure is "6". Wazzup with that?

I've seen that on Porsche too, it's literally a square with an inch symbol (like a quotation mark). Pictograph of "square-inches", meant to be pounds per square inch rather than printing "psi".

My Euro 360 had the face of the speedo changed to MPH. I believe that this is part of the conversion process. When I had my 308 Euro I had my entire speedo changed to MPH. That was my preference. I wanted to know that my speed was in MPH not KPH.

I rode in a GT4 this past weekend that had both metric and english on ALL the gauges. I know this is not unusual for a speedo but even the oil and water had both. I do not think I have seen that before. By the way, it was a 75 model.

Older cars can be a weird mix of gauges. While my 1975 speedo/odo are in miles, everything else is metric. Oil pressure is "6". Wazzup with that?

I believe part of the DOT conversion requires a speedo change to MPH from KPH. Most companies just stick an MPH insert over the KPH speedo which can later be removed if you like.

Warren. My 83 Euro Mondial still had the odometer im km.'s. I believe it was supposed to be changed to miles too.

Do all Euro model F-s use Km on the odometer or are there Euro models that use miles as well? I don't believe it is mandatory to convert Km to miles when the U.S. conversion is done when the cars are shipped to the US but I may be wrong. Can someone clarify this for me?

Also, why does it seem like almost all Lambos (U.S. or Euro) use Km instead of miles? In fact are there Lambos that use miles on the odometer?
