Rob,

I've been driving for 35 years now with no accidents or any other blemish on my record. It has a lot to do with where you live also. I am not in a major metropolitan area which makes the rates cheaper. Because of my limited coverage, this makes me somwhat "self insured" too.

Rob,
Check with Allstate. They are very Ferrari friendly, at least my agent is. The only restrictions is that I can't put on more then 7000 miles per a year on the car. This is a non issue with me because I didn't plan to put that many miles on it in the first place. The agreed value we work out on the car is excellent. I do have a $1000 deductible so that did help a lot. It is on a 1980 308 GTSi and I pay just under $500 a year for it. To top it off I live just outside of Washington D.C and I am a rather young guy also, so I understand completely about being in one of the worst counties for insurance.
Take care

Wow, I called progressive and for the coverage I have with Geico it would be $3,400 a year. Geico is about $1,000 or so. I have collision with Geico, but even with that removed and similar limits with you the quote was $1,800 a year. I need to find out how you got such a good rate. I have a perfect history except a collision with a trucks retread that counts against me because I didn't do what the insurance company wanted me to do... swerve. Anyway, the difference may be that I'm in Dallas county (probably one of the worst insurance counties in the USA) and my age.

Craig, what kind of coverage do you have on your car? That is about half what I pay on my 328 with Geico.

I considered Grundy, but they seem only to insure cars that participate in shows and are not used as daily drivers. The answer I got from them is that if you are on a "specific mission" -- like going to the store for a loaf of bread-- you should have used your regular driver and they would not insure you in this situation. This seemed to be the case with most of these specialty insurers. If you only plan to drive around for "fun" and to and from car shows, this is probably a good insurance policy for you.

Because I wanted coverage no matter when I drove (unlimited mileage), I chose Progressive which seem to be very Ferrari friendly and inexpensive -- less than $500/yr for 1986 328GTS in FL

I'm looking into getting insurance from Grundy Insurance....If anyone has any + or - thoughts on them, please let me know. Other insurance carriers that provide good service at low cost would be appreciated.
