Martin - I didn't think I was going that fast. a place for ribs would have been nice. Van - most insurance companies will not cover your car on the track. the policy usually reads that any organized, known or unknown track event, race, school or other, the insurance is not in effect. you can buy track insurance per event but for my Viper ($100K car) insurance is $5,000. for a saturday/sunday event. dont even want to know what it would cost for my F40. as far as Farmers being able to cancel my insurance after signing the contract, I read it as some of you suggested and it states that they may cancel if I dont pay the premium or for any reason within the first 60 days of a new policy or notify me before renew that they are not going to renew the policy. |

If you can meet their requirements (Officer, or a direct family member Officer, in the US Armed Forces), I have found USAA to be the best and the cheapest. |

good news. Farmers made a mistake and they reinstated my policy. they saw that I had two speeding tickets (dont know how I got those) but they went ahead and waived it. I also made my wife the primary driver and me the secondary and that lowered the rate. I pay $1486. yr. Thanks again for all the help. |

are any of you in Massachusetts? auto insurance here is, well, "challenging" might be the nicest word one could use. i'd like to hear how you've dealt with agreed value and the like. i'm told i can get an "inland marine policy" to cover the delta between standard "book value" and a high appraisal. would love to hear some data. my agent hasn't been terribly helpful thus far. doody |

P.S. Tim if you get another insurer within the 10 days that automatically lets them off the hook. But if you don't I think they are still bound by the contract. Did your agent tell you this or did they give it to you in writing? |

Martin makes a good point Tim. I don't see how they could break their contract at least for the term, I guess one year, of the contract. Read your Declaration of the policy and see if they have that written in there. |

I'm currently with Progressive for all my cars, however, my insurance agent has recommended that I move the F-car over to Chubb at renewal time, will save me about 200-300/year. |

Tim, my F40 is with American Family. Insured for $350,000, the annual premium is $2,400.00. I am looking at Chubb, but have found them to be about 30% higher than everybody else in the past. Chris |

I'm with Mike and Lou, go to http://www.grundy.com/, they do the Chubb insurance. I know my car is not worth $45,000, but I also know that is how much I would have to spend to get a car just like it. Unlimited mileage, no deductable, $45,000 agreed value. $636.00 a year It went up $13.00 this year Just remeber you can NEVER live the car UNattended. So, it's in the garage, valet parked or at a car show. Drive and leave it at a mall and you are uninsured. When I looked at leland they had a mileage limit, I could leave the car unattended say if we took a road trip and stayed at a motel and they had a $750.00 deductable Good Luck Kelly |

I just am in the process of changing the insurance company for my 1977 308 GTB. I needed an apprasial which I got for $30K and 3 pictures of the car. My present policy is $850 a year with unlimited milage. The new policy is $260 a year 2500 miles (5000 miles cost another $30-$40)with the same total coverage and no deductable. Sounded good to me.My brother-in -law has his 63 and 67 Corvettes with this company and is paying around $550 for both ($100K value) |

My friends have an F40 insured through CHUBB ( they got me hooked up with their agent ), and I have 4 cars insured with them as well, including my Ferrari 328, and Integra R ( highest stolen car in the area . They are the only company to go with. It costs me $2000 per year for the all of them,) and I am 27. I have the 328 on a policy with a replacemnt value of 60k....that should easily cover it in case of the worst. Just my 2 cents Steve Jones www.sportauto.cc |

I must agree with Mike and Lou that CHUBB is the way to go. They are one of the few, if not the only one, that has no annual mileage restriction. Agreed value, reasonable pricing and a Ferrari-specific program. I priced 5 different companies (including Leland West, American Collectors and GEICO[who insures my daily drivers]) and they offered the best program with the least restrictions by far.

Second vote for CHUBB here. I have 6 cars insured with them and they are great. make sure to ask for the Ferrari program. Mike |

I've always used LeLand West for my Ferraris, and have had no regrets. I use my general carrier (Farm Bureau) for my daily-driver cars plus my "mild" exotics, Audi Ur-Q and Lotus Esprit. |

I have three Ferraris insured with CHUBB. They have a so called special Ferrari Program and seem to welcome Ferrari's. I have a 328, 512TR, 360 Spider insured for agreed value plus a new S55AMG and Jeep all for $4200 per year with no strings on milage etc.. I did a lot of comparison shopping and am very satified. Try their web site. |

This is not that strange to have happen, the local agent wrote the binder subject to acceptance by the carrier. Tim if you have a lot with Farmers, I would tell them it's all or none see what they do then. |

I am not sure how they can do that. A contract is a binding agreement. After all if you would have cancelled you would have had to pay some penalty as well. Try Geico. I am not sure about the value issue though. |

I also have Condon & Skelly for insurance on my 308 & MG, 2500mi a year max. Rates are good. Based on the rate for my 308 agreed value 35000 , 275000 + would be around 4-4500 |

If you were in NJ once they write a policy they must honor it until it is time to renew. you may want to check with the insurance laws in your state, most carriers won't tell you this when they want to cancel prior to renewal time. I had a carrier try to do this becuase I was going to be out of the country for an extended period and my cars would be left in my garage |

Tim - I can't say for a F-40, but I've had good luch with Condon & Skelly insurance. They have my Ferrari Mondial & Fiat Spider on the same Special Interest policy and the rate is very reasonable. |

I cant find anything in the archive that is specific, but am sure its there somewhere. sorry to ask again. what insurance companies do you use with an agreed value? Farmers now tells me they dont want to cover the F40 after writing the policy already. they are giving me 10 days to find other coverage. what is your rate for an agreed value of $275 and up? thanks for the help. |
