Just to jump in.... I'm located just West of Boston. Nothing I can think of in "Northern" Massachusetts, but this state isn't that big; most places considered "Northern" Mass. is probably less than 45 minutes from any of the places listed below.

1. John Tirrell runs Independent Ferrari Service, of South Easton, MA, off of Rt. 24 (south of Boston, about 20 minutes). John is a very good friend of mine and an excellent, excellent mechanic. 508 238 4224 (but he's driving his 355 Challenge at the Nationals right now).

2. Ferrari of New England is located in West Newton MA, just west of Boston and right off the Mass. Turnpike. Steve Oldford is the Service Manager there, great guy. 617 559-0123

3. Boston Sports Car is located in Weston, MA, west of Boston, at the intersection of 128/I-95 and the Mass Pike. Darrin McKay runs the place, or talk to Jonathan Kirshstein. Both great guys. (781) 647-7300.

4. Paul Russell and Co. is one of the PREMIER restoration companies in the world, specializing in MB but also does work on Ferrari restorations ($$$$$$$$$$). Not a Ferrari mechanic, per se, though. But they ARE in Northern Mass. http://www.paulrussellandco.com/

5. Hatch and Sons is in Wayland, MA, just west of Boston Sports Car. Bob Hatch is a good friend and runs the place with his son Jim. They do a LOT of top-notch MB restorations, and have recently started selling and servicing Porsche. One of the best Body shops in New England (I think FoNE outsources their work to Bob, but I don't know if they are "Ferrari Authorized" -- may only be two such bodyshops in this country). Not really a "Ferrari Mechanic" either; they outsource their Ferrari mechanical stuff. (508) 358-3500 (but Bob is down at National this week too).

6. I've heard of KTR Motorsports, but don't know of anyone who services their Ferraris there. For mechanical work in this area, most go to Ferrari of New England, Independent Ferrari Service, or Boston Sports Car.

vty,

Another shop with a good reputation is KTR European Motorsports in Ayer, MA., near Route 2 and 495 in north central Mass. Its the former J. Geils owned shop that is now owned by Bob Gett (pronounced Jet).

They recently moved into a beautiful new, modern and large facility and they can handle a wide range of vintage to modern cars.

Sure does seem that the People's Republic of Taxachusetts does have a surfeit of good Ferrari shops! ;-)

I've used Boston Sports Car and IFS for maintenance/repaire work...They're both excellent.
I beleive that Hatch & Son is the only Ferrari-authorized body repair facility in MA.

Hatch & Sons, thats it. I did the Forza mille rally with Bill hart & Bob Hatch back around 2000. Bob had a 360 there. He trades Ferraris ocassionally. Last Fcar he had was that 61 TR Replica in DuPont

Doody is probably referring to Paul Russell & Co. in Essex. Heres their URL:

The MB shop William is referring to is probably Hatch and Sons in Wayland MA. http://www.hatchandsons.com/ . They'd probably refer f-car stuff to Boston Sportscar - BSC may use Hatch for its body work, and I've never known Hatch & Sons to do any f-car mechanical work (p-car and mb-car). Though I couldn't say for sure.

martin - not sure what you mean by "northern MASS", but you've got a few options here.

(A) there's an outfit in Essex MA that does high-profile restorations. i don't recall the name - no clue if they do basic mechanic/ppi work. that's the only place in "northern MASS" i know of. and it's NorthEast MA, on the coast - if the car is in NorthWest MA you're two hours away.

(B) in Weston MA there's The Boston Sportscar Company where i have my 355 serviced. good people. talk to Darin McKay. they're not far from "northern MASS" perhaps. http://bostonsportscar.com/

(C) in Newton MA there's Ferrari of New England where i have my 550 serviced. talk to Steve Oldford http://www.ferrarine.com/ - a few miles East of BSC above.

(D) in South Easton MA there's Steve Tirrell (sp) at Independent Ferrari Service. he is decidedly not in "northern MASS" though - close to RI in fact.

feel free to email me directly if you need any specific info.

I have heard good things about John Turrell (SP?) at Independent Ferrari Service. I think he is the owner. I have spoken with him on 2 occasions just to ask him his opinion on buying. He was very polite + helpful and never tried to pitch me anything. I have spoken with a few others that have said he was a straight shooter. I think he is in Stoughton MA. Its about 20 mins SW of Boston. This is most likely the guy that TomD is talking about

Hey Martin, there is IFS, International Ferrari Service ? I believe. or John Geils who used to play drums for the J Geils band has a shop near Boston. Then there is an FCA member who owns an MB shop near Boston. I'll see if I can get you some #s
