I put magnetic backing on mine, have them on the tool box most of the time. When I'm ready for something different, I put them on the car. They've never moved an inch, regardless of speed.

Good Morning Tom!

It's probablly a mental thing... I remember many years ago I was driving on 95 when I first saw an F car with Shields. Being a P-Car guy, I did not know anything about F Cars and I saw a 348 (I think) with shields and I thought to myself "Why is this guy advertising himself"..kinda like a guy who's showing off... I don't know. Of course, now I know it's like a $3K option on a new car, but the perception does not sit well with me...

But your right, whatever floats your boat...speaking of which, you coming down soon?

Frank - you are going out on a limb :-), I don't like the first position - they are two small - the second position is ok but still no a big fan, but hey what ever floats your boat - see no bad flames here

DES...

OK...I got my flame suit on....but here it goes.

I really don't care for the shields...they seem to big... BUT when the mood stricks me, I want to add something different to my car that is unique and removable.

I take the smaller shields and mount them in one of two positions...see pix below...

Regardless of size, (I've done the big ones also)you can mount them by going to Office Depot or Office Max. They have magnetic tape that's sticky on one side and a magnet on the other. Put the shield on it for a pattern and cut around it with an exacto knife (also office depot).

Regarding staying on the car - I can attest that I had the small ones on the lower panel last Saturday and I drove the car at 100mph for over 40 minutes non-stop, then another 2 hours at 75-80 and they did not move one bit...

Ben... That seems like way too much work... i already bought epoxy and just need to mix it and glue the badges on and i haven't even done that yet...! Taking the fender off...? That'll never happen... Thanks for the idea, though... Had nothing else worked out, that would definitely be a viable solution... :-)

DES- an idea! Take the fender pannel off (it just unbolts, very cool) and epoxy some VERY STRONG rare-earth magnets to the other side.

That way, you will have something to stick the fender badges onto!

Make sure you use some incredibly strong magnets, to insure they don't come off, and make damn sure they're on there right pole-polarity (north south) wise :-)

Best!
Ben.

Ok,... now I gotta plug mine. Add number 30 in the FerrariAdds section of this websight. There are some photos of the badges to take a look at.

Paul, didn't want to bring it up, but since you mentioned it:

I got a pair of S/F shields from Heiko and they're the real deal. Perfect in every way.

I also got a pair from you and they are very nice, but not original. Otherwise fine.

The main difference (aside from being OEM vs not) is the curvature of these shields: I think Paul's set is perfect for a newer car like a 348, 355. Heiko's shields are less curved and therfore fit better on a 308/328.

Basically without embossing, Paul's shields are hard to fit on a 308. They would have to be moved way up and front to fit the contours of the car vs Heiko's fit perfectly where they ought to be placed. But again Paul's would probably be best for a 348.

Andreas.....I think you bought your shields from me NOT Heiko.
As for Dan (DES) I also sell the OEM Scuderia Shields (not a plug for me) $200 per pair. They come with either a flat back for double stick tape or epoxy application or with 2 posts if you don't mind drilling 2 holes inthe fender. Then for sure they won't fall off. Feel free to contact me thru the site or directly. I would go with the epoxy or drill. Your shields are too nice and valuable to depend on tape.

Just for the record: I got a pair of Heiko's shields and they are top notch. Soon they're gonna go onto my 308, they're a perfect fit curvewise etc.

Maybe a small piece of metal behind the rear glass, with the shield on the outside of the glass?

Or you could hang them on your fridge.

Just a thought

Oh... If you were in my shoes & owned a '94 Saturn that you'll probably never sell and keep until it dies, what would you do...? That's a good point, but i think i'm willing to risk that...

You could use an adhesive but it would destroy the paint.

A very nice gentleman on the board, here, offered to let me take over ownership of his magnetic Scuderia Badges, since he's having enamel badges put on his car...

Last week, i got them in the mail when i got home from work, and as soon as i saw the envelope, i knew what was in it... Neatly placed between to pieces of card board, there they were... i was stoked... i couldn't even bother to make it to my chair- i shut the door, dropped my brief case and plopped my ass right on the floor and just let the anticipation get the envelope open and get those badges out... As i sat there, grinning from ear to ear, i realized that these badges came off of an actual Ferrari- they had history... Instantly, they held even more value than only moments ago... These badges had a life, a bloodline, a Ferrari record... My excitement was pushed into the back of my head as i was flooded with this humble knowledge... There i sat, holding two pieces of a history of a Ferrari, in my hands... 'Who's luckier than me?', i thought...

Now, i want to get these things on my car... i can't wait... The only problem is that my car is completely made out of plastic- the only metal in it is the music that sometimes emanates from my cd player (yuk, yuk, yuk)- so obviously, they won't stick to the car... Ergo, my next, most logical alternative is to purchase some form of all-weather, very sticky adhesive and affix the badges to my car this way... i'm looking for suggestions, here- suggestions as to what form of adhesive might be best to apply a magnet to a plastic panel of a car; something that will hold through the weather; Also, if others have done this and have some experience with it, aside from cleaning the area of the car where i'll be affixing the badges, do you have any other suggestions as to how i can maintain the quality of their life on my car, so as to keep them from falling off, etc, etc, etc... Any and all suggestions/advice/direction would be greatly appreciated... Thanks... Also, a special thanks to the gentleman who bestowed upon me, this most gracious gift... :-)
