Ferrari of Washington recommended Autocrafters in Manassas, VA to me and they do the best body work I have ever seen. It takes them a VERY long time to complete a car, but it is better than factory when it leaves. The owner is Rober Appel: 703-335-9646

I had my 308 repainted by a rather cheap paint shop. This took care of the wear and tear the car had undergone in the last 20 years. Since I drive the as a 'daily driver' I fully expect it to get bruised, bumped and scratched by nasty people with keys and nails. So that's ok for now. In another 5 or ten years I'll have it painted from scratch in a perfect way and then use it as a Sunday driver only.

So I guess it depends on whether you have something for daily use or concours. If I'd have a race F car, I wouldn't even think twice about painting it at all.

I WOULD ONLY HAVE A CAR PAINTED FROM A FACTORY APPROVED BODY SHOP!! END OF STORY.

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE

Especially when you sell her!

You'll need to take the whole brandy-new thing apart to paint properly; quite expensive. The value of a new car may well take a hit because even if you explain the re-paint, people will always say the car has a "story", and many won't believe you had it painted from new.
If you don't care about selling it for full value, I'd follow Jim G.'s advice. I get the feeling if he recommends a painter, it is from vast experience.

Karosserie, King of Prussia, PA - give Richard (one of the owners) a call at 800-783-8024. Better still, it is not that far from West Virginia and go see the facility and quality of the work for yourself. He is a real gentleman and would be happy to give you a tour.

IMHO the best painter in the world is the person who painted my Lola (Which won the "Best Post War Competition Car Speedvision Trophy at the Greenwich Concours) and is now painting my P4. Greg Stallmeyer 217 687 7151. Mention my name.
Best

Greetings tifosi, your experiences and hearsay's in the perilous terrain of repainting the stallions is requested. With the difficulty of obtaining these jewels exactly as you wish, and not of much patience, I'm considering purchasing and repainting. Your insights and pithy comments are appreciated.
