A well-shaped body-colored tonneau/rear area cover always looks sharp on a open car IMO, so I too don't mind the outward look of the red one (would even be better with a body-colored windshield surround). If the chassis structure is not reinenforced well, I wouldn't even go to the $10~12K a reasonable 2-valve "i" with a dead powerplant is worth -- the $17K is a pipedream. |

The fact the engine rattles and there were metal bits in the oil is enought to scare me off regardless of cowel shake (related??) |

i've always been a stickler for keeping the car stock... "factory original"... BUT if you absolutely positively HAVE to cut up a Ferrari (or a fill-in-the-blank conversion for that matter) it can look nice if one takes the time to do it properly and artistically.. i've seen very few that follow that criteria.. (ie i can think of only 2 off-hand: Straman's Testarossa-Convertible and i kinda like the Miami Vice Vette-Conversion Daytona) But i gotta admit the red one looks dang nice.... GT |

I think it shows the potential for a ragtop 308 & it's to bad no factory cars were done this way. A homemade ragtop Ferrari that needs major engine repairs and a paint job? Could be a tough sell at $17K. Another one is in Germany and it comes with a top. Expensive and been for sale for a long time. http://www2.thecarexperience.com/pls/carexp/car_exp.car_page?p_car_id=5368

Jeff, " Since those cars were never designed to be topless" What about the GTS? This is the same concept but allbeit a little more extreme. IF they added support behind the seats, then it would be no worse then the GTS Matt |

Ron, I don't think this would be a good car for Florida. The seller states you can't take the top with you when it's off the car. Since it rains every summer afternoon in Florida, I think you'd be in big trouble! |

I think it's kinda cool if done right. The real test would be to drive it over some rough roads and see what happens. Since those cars were never designed to be topless, the torsional rigidity could be seriously compromised by chopping the top. Might suffer from many more squeaks, rattles, and cowl shake. I'd be curious to see how it behaves. |

I guess it's a matter of taste...but why would you do that to your 308? |

At first I thought it was a kitcar. Interior confirms it isn't.. Not for me, But how about you.. Great for Florida... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2410233795 |
