Dave, you still do all the service you need to do and check your oil every 1000 Miles. Common sense. But I do agree fully that once the car is driven you will have less problems down the road. Every car will have the same. I am not using my BMW that much any more since the Ferrari is on the road every day and bang $5000 in repairs. The A/C is the first thing that will go. I am not sure but I guess the evapurator is not willing to stay on if not driven! Herb got it right, it ain no sculpture, it is a driving machine and oh, what a machine it is! |

I make sure that all fluids are changed at the relevent intervals. Most important, timing belt change must not be missed. I would say that maintenance costs are proportional to mileage as parts such as brake pads, tires, bushes and ball joints do need replacing more regularly. The only thing I have yet to properly do is the valve adjustment, as I have yet to locate an alternative source of shims! |

A message for this group, especially Low who drives his 308 QV about 20,000 miles a year. My experience is that maintenance costs seem to go down if a vehicle is used fairly regularily. If not used much, vehicles seem to go down hill fairly quickly. When I asked a Ferrari Dealer about using it as a daily car, he said that almost noone did that. Most people drive them 7,000 miles a year or less. However, the Ferraris best suited for daily use were the 308 and Mondial. If driven for about 20,000 miles a year, what kind of maintenance costs do you end up paying - approximately? Do you still do 15,000 and 30,000 service or is this extended due to the frequent use? What are your thoughts? Dave Wapinski |

For the past year and a half, I've driven my 95 456 nearly daily, rain or shine. I've been caught out in snow a couple times, but avoid it mainly because those wide tires do so poorly in it. While the new car buzz wears off with regular use, the thrill of driving a Ferrari does not. In fact, it just seems to keep growing as I get more adept at pushing the limits of the car. I find myself driving less smoothly when I've not driven it for several days. A recent move to a small island community with few paved roads has severely reduced my daily driving, but I still like to take the car out a few times a week, if even for just a 30 minute romp. Visits to the mainland are almost always in the Ferrari, if only to get it thoroughly warmed after a few of the shorter drives. |

I use my 308 QV every day. In fact, I clock up about 20,000 miles per year. Part of these mileage comes from two high speed runs per month covering about 500-600 miles. |

I alternate between the 355 and TR. I use them both everyday. I have used them in the rain as well but I try not to anymore. A lot of people here NYC do not know how to deive in the dry never mind the rain. As I have said before the more you use them the better they behave themselves. |

I've gotta agree with henryk. I drive a dumb ol' truck as my daily driver. Then when I drive my Ferrari it is such a blast because it is not something I do every day. Maybe one day I will have two Ferraris, one as my daily driver and one for the weekends... |

When I had a 308 I tried, for a summer to use it every day. The problem developed, that after 4-6 weeks of every day use, I started to take the car for granted, as it became my every day "beeter". I enjoyed the car more when only used on the weekends; then I had something to look forward to. It was much more fun taking it out with no particular place to go......just cruise. Knowing that I had to go to work, etc. took the fun out of it. I put about 5-6000 miles on during the summer. Then winter comes (Wisconsin), when I tinker with the car, looking forward to Spring! |

Mine is a daily as well. Also weather permitting. Sometimes drive in the rain too. Not a real problem if you drive fast enough, otherwise the Targa leaks. Car wants to be driven. HAd it in the shop while I was on vacation. The clutch was hard when I picked it up after 2 weeks. The baby forgave me and it is running like fire now. |

I drive mine as often as possible (to work, the hardware store, the gym, whatever) -- probably 5 or 6 days per week on average. I try to stay out of the wet if possible, but I still get plenty of winter miles in as (here in CO) the snow usually melts off of the roads fairly quickly. Life's too short not to drive the damn thing IMHO! |

I drive my 308 every day that I can weather permitting. I don't take it to work most of the time because it is only about a 3 minit drive so what is the point. I bought my car to drive not sit in the garage. |

I drive my 355 at least 3x per week, and when not raining use for the commute. In Cal if you have a two seater, you can avoid paying bridge tolls, and that is how I justify the use of the 355. Art |

Use my ferrari's every weekend and every chance I get, they need and love to be driven regulary and it is the only way to get the "cost per mile" down to a level that is not obscene. |

I use my 355 F1 everyday and put on about 40km per day. It's been fantastic but you do have to nurse it a bit. I got rust in the sills now because I did'nt dry it after driving in the rain. |
