The third plug probably goes to one of your wires coming from your regular headlight wiring, and that's where the "control" comes in so it turns on from the steering column.

hi guys just recived my h4 wire harness upgrade for my new head lights..Can some one help me locate the plug with 3 prongs for the connection.I have 4 plugs which go to the lamps,2 plugs for the relays and the 1 plug Im haveing trouble with,Thankyou Mick..I have a 88 mondial cabriolet.
