G. Peters, Wish there was a great group of drivers like that near me. Enjoy late night drives and being a smart@$$. (As i stomp my right foot like a 9 year old) Why is it all the OTHER guys have all the fun (hrumph!) :-) Enjoy the Drive, Steven R. Rochlin PS: In my car... eat, smoke, fart, tell bad jokes, "get some"... it's all good :-)

I wash my car about once a month and don't believe in interim cleanings. I guess a duster is OK, but I think a damp chamois scratches the paint by rubbing in the dirt. Everything I've read says the best way to wash is with lots of water and a soft brush (rather than sponge or mitt)to avoid microscopic scratches. 303 Aerospace Protectant is about 1000 times better than armorall -- it conditions rubber/plastic rather than just coat it and lasts much longer. It also contains sunscreen. It's available from performanceproducts.com. It also works wonders in the engine compartment on hoses and the black crinkle paint on the air cleaner. |

Peter, If you like to go sideways in the corners join us. As long as you drive like a hooligan and bring bail money with you on the drive your welcome to go. If you don't need your cash for bail that night we each zero out the GPS in our cars and fastest recorded top speed get's the cash, we each kick in $50.00. You just don't want to be the slowest of the group ( you are the butt of jokes till the next run). WFO |

You guys would hate my cars . I try and wash them about once a month but that's about it. To me it's more about the drive than the appearance. My buddies and I mostly take the cars out late at night to scare ourselves . Most of the guys are dad's and we go driving after the kids are in bed sleeping. Late at night on the Ortega Hwy nobody can tell if your car is dirty. One guy joined us on one drive and commented on our dirty cars and proclaimed that nobody has eaten in his car. One guy asked if he had bought his car new, he didn't. So we asked him how he knew the previous owner didn't eat in the car. He said since he owned the car nobody has. Another said what's the big deal since the cars cherry had probably been popped. His tires looked brand new even though they had over 3,000 miles on them (we use Hoosier slicks after we done on the track) for street use as a comparison. Just to yank his chain I asked him if anybody had ever farted in his car. He didn't gel as part of our group and we never saw him again. Yeah it helps to be a smartass to fit in with us. WFO |

Yes, keep Ferrari interior etc clear from Armor All. Here's what I use: Lexol Leather Conditioner/Vinylex for interior, they are Ph balanced and will keep sensitive interior conditioned. |

Jim, a "simple syrup" or "sugar syrup" is: Thin = 3 parts water/1 part sugar Medium = 2:1 Thick = 1:1 1:3 is pretty much just wet sugar. |

I remember some discussion elsewhere that Armor All helps and hinders at the same time by accelerating the process of the evaporation of plasticizers that keep rubber soft, plastics colorful and flexible. Anyone confirm that? I personally use a damp rag with water to wipe down everything down and a duster when needed. |

Armor All is OK if you keep it up. Where people get into trouble is in not keeping up the applications and the sun does the rest (cracking of the dash, etc.). I have never experienced it turning tires brown. When I was poor and in college, I used 1 part warm water and three parts sugar. It worked pretty good as a 'poor-mans' Armor All! |

After every use, my car has to be cleaned, washed, waxed, armored-all, and etc...it's a ritual that I enjoy doing a lot. |

I wipe down my daily driver every morning before work and evening before cover, complete detail once a week. The Don can tell you, I'm a just a weee bit fussy when it comes to cleanliness. I'm finished when I can no longer move my arms. I'm over-obsessive, but I don't mind. Sunny |

EFW: The dusters work extremely well, but the trick it to use it, shake it out and keep it in a plastic bag, pref not in a dusty garage. |

Peter: I never use a duster; I'm too afraid that dust will cause tiny scratches. I wash after almost any outing, or before the next outing. I do the car with Mother's cleaner, glaze and Premium Polish about every two months. Wheels off for polishing too, and I clean the calipers and suspension arms. Retentive here, as well! |

Arthur...Anyone that says a Cessna is a small plane has obviously not waxed one! (I just sold a 150 and a 172). There is more metal (area) on a 172 as is found on a Greyhound bus! |

I wash, only using water, after every drive. I also clean the wheels, and vacuum the interior. Once every 6 months, I have the car detailed, to get the fine scratches out of the paint. I wash the family car (an Audi) once a month, whether it needs it or not. The plane gets washed every month also. I'm too anal to let someone else wash them. Art |

Clean F cars are great but never let that get in the way of serious drives. Sounds like you would have a heart attack on say, a 1500 mile Nova Scotia rally over messy dirty roads half in the rain where you couldn't wash the car for, gasp, 4-5 days. |

Ditto Peter....same here. I have a beater truck that never needs washing, and nobody seems to care. But a Ferrari must be presented in the best way possible, as we are the ambassadors of the marque to the uneducated masses. I too am very anal about cleanliness and the proper methods of getting the car spotless. Nice to see I'm not the only one. |

Just wondering if I am 'over-anal' in regard to driving a clean Ferrari. Whan I return from a drive (hour +), I will either use the duster to pick up dust or give the car a quick damp shamoi wipe down...Yes, I always have better things to do, but I really like driving a spotless car! |
