Russ, I have to agree this is fun. We should a monthly/weekly game of it. Find the shaddy F-car and see what you can dig up! And it would be good reading for the newbies as well on how to spot problems. I definately learned something! |

It is not a US spec engine. Upon re-looking at the engine there is no frequency valve on the left hand side of the fuel distributor peculiar only to US and maybe CH (Swiss) market cars. To recap: Euro front and rear bumpers and rear fog lights Euro spec motor US side light upgrade VIN indeterminate Interesting toggle switch kluge on the center console It's a Euro. this is fun best to all rt |

Good eye, David. I agree -- looks like damage back there on the buttress. Some clues in the US vs. European question: 1. The side marker lights: they're non-European market lights. They may have been swapped out at some point however. 2. Rear fog lights in the exhaust valence. These were not available for the US market. The car does have the factory dash switch for the rear foglights. It's the lower left push button on the dash. 3. Doors have "door open" warning lights. I believe these were for the US and Japanese markets. 4. 5 mph bumper blocks aren't there - could be US or Japanese market. I tried to stop by their website to get the correct VIN but I kept receiving a "Forbidden" error on the root of their webpage: http://www.gablesportcars.com Also, another observation: it appears some alarm system may have been installed. I looks like an indicator light on the center console. There is something on the glovebox but I can't make out what that is. Regarding ABS... per Original Ferrari V8 by Keith Bluemel: ABS on the Mondial was not available on the 86 3.2, optional in 87, and equipped in 88. All of the 3.2s still had the "ABS-equipped style" convex wheels however. Very interesting car indeed. It doesn't seem to know what international market it was destined for! Mike |

Sorry for the double post. The first part somehow got chopped. Here it is again: There may also be some damage to the back of the buttress on the right rear of the mondial. It looks like something is out of whack in the photo. |

so be some damage to the back of the buttress on the right rear of the mondial. It looks like something is out of whack in the photo. Also, I'm pretty sure that NO Mondial had ABS before the 88 model year when it became optional, and later on standard. You can find out for certain in Keith Bluemel's Ferrari V8 book. Omar, you might want to go for a Mondial "T". Since you already have a 328, a Mondial 3.2 (with the same engine) is going to feel really slow to you. A "T" would have more oomph! |

I've seen it on ebay before too.I've always liked Red interiors like that. Guess i'm in the minority there. I wondered why it seemed so reasonable. It's a neat color combo though. |

Brian, the VIN might be a mess up...maybe, but it is the same as the 328 they have for auction. Their 328 |

Brian, that's how you get a euro car to meet epa/dot...switch the tag...just joking... other things that seem strange...the red interior was touched up with photoshop (not leatherique) take a close look at it...also, never saw an f-car with a purolator oil filter didn't that they made one with a stand-up pipe...I thought we only used Fram,UFI or that truck filter...wonder if it is just a standard ford filter due to the florida climate... |

The VIN decodes to a 1986 328GTS USA version, NOT a Mondial. That would make me suspicious. |

It is defintely a euro, you can tell by the silver colored fuel distributer. US market cars have black distributors on 3.2 motors. It is unfortunate that the shade of red Ferrari used for interiors in the late 80's is very bright. With 348's they went to more of a burgundy which is much nicer IMO. I looked at a silver/red 328 GTB some years ago and while I loved the silver, I could not live with the red. Thought about redying the seats, but you are still left with the headliner and red carpets go poorly with black leather, so I passed on it. Dave |

Thats about all its worth Omar. I paid 27,500 for a 88 coupe with 17k in mint condition in a better color combo blk/tan |

Martin, What's wrong with a moving brothel? Keeping it moving makes it harder to get raided

All 3.2s had ABS offsets although ABS optional early, standard later. If this is a Euro, it's about .5 sec quicker than American cousin due to +10hp and less weight, different exhaust, no frequency valve on the K-jet. Must admit not crazy about the interior, though. Red does not age well. |

Martin, thanks for spelling out something I was trying to say tactfully IMHO the older red interiors are really tough - they have to be really well cared for to look nice |

What is wrong with it???? THE RED INTERIOR !!! it makes my eyes twitch looking at the pictures. You go gaga driving for longer than 30 minutes in this moving brothel. Needs $ 2,000 to change the int. color to whatever but red! If you want me to look at the car feel free to call me. I will actually be in Downtown later today and can make a pit stop at Gables, they are 15 min from there. Call me before 10:30am. 305-867-7676 |

I don't think the price is too out of wack. He is looking for 24K. The car has over 50k miles and I am not sure about service. The older red interiors can be a tough sell and this one looks a little rough. The car was procduced in early 86. A 3.2 coupe with 20-30k miles in mint condition will only sell for around 30 at best so I think you can do better elsewhere - MHO |

Very clever! You've just figured out the low price! - it's probably a Euro model without the heavier American bumpers. The american spec cars had the small square bumper reinforcements. Need to check for registration and DOT to verify. Great eyes! best, rt |

This front nose pic compared to this pic. Is it just me or is it missing the 2 front body colored rectanglar prisms above the grill on the Are they just hard to see in the pic? What are they even for? |

Seems like a good looking car, the paint looks new so you have to take a good luck under, but for $20k, seems like fun. |

Ive seen it on ebay before and something about it just doesnt look right. I dont know if that color combination is original...highly doubt it. I havent read the full write up on it though so I cant tell you if there is anything fishy. I just dont think the colors combined with the chrome wheels mix well at all. |
