Thanks Mark, the car is at the FNA Dealer as we speak, and they are doing a 30K. Then the car will be shipped.

Can't wait, especially since I checked my bank acount today, and the MONEY IS GONE.

Pics to follow.

Chris, even though it is Good Friday, the entire office is here all day long.

Congrats on the house. With the new 1 million dollar home that you just bought I was thinking of leaving some of the toys at your house. The nieghbors love me right now as you really can barely see the front of my 2 story house. I would love to gat a drive through barn/garage. In the SF Bay Area land is so scarce, a move up for me would be serious $$$$.
As long as the F-Car sleeps inside everything else will just have to be outside.

"Hey Chris just think that Scott and Pat are buying those tahoes, boats and Ferraris with your closing costs! sorry, I couldn't help it."

Since I've done so many deals with them, I bet that I at least paid for one of those boats! ;) I'm a business person myself and understand and am willing to pay for excellent service, which is what I've gotten from these guys. I can't stand it when people ask me about my margins, selling at cost, etc.

Paul,
I'll actually be stopping by the office later today because I just went into contract on that house deal last night! Pretty soon, you're going to have to get a house with more storage space for all the toys!

Jere, thanks for the clarification. Do you think the warranty is worth the cost? Just curious. From the best I can decipher, a trans rebuild would run 3-4K?? Not sure on the costfor the coverage, but my assumption is that normal wear and tear, (ie clutch parts) are not included. Your thoughts?

Paul,

The parts that are installed by an FNA dealer as long as they are original Ferrari parts receive a one year unlimited mileage warranty on that part only. It is not a full Powertrain Plus warranty. You will need to keep the receipts to prove when the work was done should you need to file a claim within the first year.

The Powertrain Plus warranty can be purchased separately but it only covers basically the powertrain (hence the Powertrain Plus name) and nothing else. This is the one that Frank is telling you about. You get a warranty book from Ferrari NA if you get the Powertrain Plus warranty by do not receive a book for just the parts replaced during the 30K service. You might want to check with the dealer and see if the car qualifies for the Powertrain Plus. They have to send in info on the car to FNA and FNA has to approve it for PT Plus. Just a thought.

Jim that really was funny. I get that all day long. How much are you making on my loan? Per loan is somewhat nominal. The name of the game is volume.

...so I guess I am not far off asking $ 98K for a 5,500 miles F355 Spider red/black, 1998 with TUBI, $3K Stereo and some other options!

Frank, Thank You for that info. as I will keep my eyes peeled. At the 110K, I also worked in a Tubi (installed), and new rubber all the way around. Pics upon arrival (anticipate by 4/30).

I think I saw your car when I was shopping a while ago. It is a beauty. F of SF has always had some really nice examples! I thought I would continue to shop the market and came up with the same old story every time. I am glad I waited.

Chris, best of luck on the 355 search. FYI, I have been watching the market closely and you will be surprised as to the demand for F-Cars (at the right price)regardless of the economy, Iraq, etc. I have seen some pretty standard deals: 25K to 30K miles, no 30 K service completed, "selling it for a freind", no sercice records, "I love this car and will keep it forever"/ but has only had it for a week deals going for 78-90K.....I just did not want something like that. Saw a 1999 black/tan 6 speed Spider the other day for $116K and negotiable, but there were no reords. That is realy funny because he said he bought it from the original owner??

Great Car!

Bought mine from F or SFO. Same deal, 30K + warranty + enclosed shipping.

When they delivered the car they included an evelope with an itemized workorder with all parts and records of the 30K.

If your warranty is FNA, it's good for one year with no mile limit. You will receive a warranty book from NJ in about 30 days from the time the 30K is completed..so don't panic if you don't get it right away.

Love the car and has exceeded my expenctations.
Post a pix as soon as you can..

Hey Chris, sorry we couldn't talk yesterday when you came by to see Scott. By the way, Congrats to you on your new house. I was working on your mortgage yesterday but haven't seen the appraisal (with pics). Scott just bought another new boat, and another new Tahoe. Now he has 2 of each. Today he closed on his rental property and now he is eyeballing a diesel pusher (RV). Hey what is another 100K? Only in America!

In regards to the 30K, I got it all in writing. It is actually part of the Sales Contract, and I will receive a standard receipt from service upon completion. Another Poster on this board claimed that when he used them, they included a 1 year warranty on any 30K related item.

I am off to see where I going to park my car. Bought the new Mercedes for commuting and it sleeps outside. Boat is in the shop for warranty work and should be back about the same time the car is shipped. That darn boat takes up the WHOLE front of my house.

Hey, you are right around the corner. I was thinking of having the Transporter drop the Spider off at my work, if I do I'll call you!

Hey Paul,

This is Chris. I was in your office today to see Scott. Too bad I didn't get to talk to you today, but I guess I ran into you here! The car looks awesome and you got a great deal. Are they giving you any warranty? If not, you should push for something if it isn't too late since it sounds like they are throwing everything else in. They should be pretty willing to deal these days. Also, I second what everyone else says about the 30k. Make sure they give you docs on everything that was done, so if you find out otherwise, you'll have something to fall back on. Let me know when you get it in and drive it to work ;) I'm actually looking for one right now for myself, but I'll probably get the Berlinetta. You should convince Scott to get himself a "real" car! Good luck and congrats!

Thanks Jeff, I also thought of the headers, guess the good news is, it is a 1998, so I will be covered under the Ferderal Emissions warranty. Closest F Dealer in F of San Francisco. If I had any Cat or header problem I could always see them.

Congrats, I basically have the same car. If I were you, I would get one of the members here to go see your car with the engine out if you can't be there yourself. You never can be to careful and it would be difficult to tell if the service was actually done. I know it may be overkill, but it won't hurt. Also do a PPI and hve them check those damn headers while they have the engine out. They should still be under warranty and now would be a good time to have replaced. Good luck!

Eric, Pics to come on arrival. I think it was a good deal. Besides the 30K, and Tubi installed, they are mounting/balancing 4 new tires. Had to send full cash price to finish the deal (they are doing the 30K right now), but to protect myself, I also had the FNA Dealer draft a letter stating that when the engine comes out, and if any unforseen items come up (ie, clutch, water pump, etc) it is not on me. They are anticipating, the timing belt, tensioner, seals, etc).
The old owener has a new 360 coming in so this car never even hit the showroom floor. Guess that's how I got a good deal.

Mainly handeling. My co-worker's father had a 355 and we spent some time together. He let me drive his car and I was hooked. Really, overall it seemed more refined. My wife gives me cr..p all the time. In 2001 I bought a 262 Crownline Cabin Cruiser (boat of course). I almost bought the 242 (it is a 24 foot). Glad I didn't beacause I would have had regrets. I am a Manager for the nation's largest Mortgage Banker, and over the last 13 years I have seen expansion and contraction in the market. For the last 3+ years it has been CRAZY!
Everyone told me to spend the "little" bit extra (read 45K) and get the 355. "Yeah right, it is not your money" I said. I really love all F-cars, but this one will get driven!
The old adage holds true, you get what you pay for. I saw a 1999 355 Spider the other day: $116K, second owner (2 months), No Records???? sorry I will pass on that one!

Congrats on the new car... it does sound like quite a deal... just out of curiosity, what was it about the '94 348 that you didn't like?

Looking forward to seeing pics of your new car!

Had a 1994 348, I really made a mistake and as that was not the car I wanted. Resold it to a freind (small loss) and went 355 shopping. Tried cutting corners the first time and probably should have done it rigt the first time around. I will be holding onto this one for a long time!

Just hammered out the final details on a 1998 Red/Tan Spider with a "local" FNA Dealer. 13k miles, pristine condition, 2 owner car. FNA dealer will include 30K service, new tires, and Tubi installed for 110K. Seems like a pretty fair deal, as the Tubi and 30K service would run appx. 9K. The car will be delivered via enclosed trailer and should be in my possession by 4/30/03. Pics to follow!
