Art, I sold a 2001 yellow spyder "loaded" a couple of years back for $250k w/a couple hundred miles. I still watch the market and I think prices have fallen. I can't see how a 2003 could be worth the same money given 2 years of additional supply, alot of used ones on the market, and a new model coming before too long. As with anything, if you want it and can afford the probable depreciation, go for it, but I have to think you can buy that car for less than $250k |

Art355 $250K is high. $230K for an F1 Spider is probably right. I do agree that prices are declining and will decline more when the 360 replacement comes out. But if you look back at prices for the 1999 355 spider when the 360 coupe came out, the 355 spider prices actually increased. This was caused by high demand for the 360 and no supply. The dealers had no new 355's to sell and couldn't get new 360's. It became futher complicated when the 355 owners found out that they were not going to get a new 360 as soon as they thought. So they were unwilling to trade their 355 spider too early. The dealers were paying over retail invoice for used 355 spiders just so they could have cars to sell. This condition lasted about 9 months. This same scenario could happen again with the 360 replacement. Ferrari will stop production on the 360 but there will be a 4-6 month gap before dealers will get the 420. I already see signs of this beginning to happen. Customers are trying to put deposits down for the 420. Some dealers are taking deposits some are not. The point is, there is already a large demand for the 420 and no supply. I don't see customers running to their dealer trying to get on the "list" for the 456 or 575 replacement. If you are one of the lucky ones who paid MSRP for a 360 spider you should be in good shape.

I know of an 02 red with tan interior spyder for sale at 225k and I'm sure there's room for negotiation. It has the challenge grille, brakes, blah, blah, blah. It even has the nav system. 250 is too much, even for an 03. |

I don't know where you guys shop but I bought my 2003 Spyder at MSRP from Algar (ordered years ago. Power Daytona seats, challenge grill, F1, Sub system, Modular wheels, and Shields came to $204,000. I don't know what planet anyone saw a new 2003 for $171,000. $230,000 is what the last 2003 went for on Ebay thats what I'd say the black car your looking at is worth. Just my $.02 |

Let me get this straight. You have a new Ferrari coming in 6-12 months, yet you are willing to pay $50k over sticker to have a 360 today? With prices declining, and a probable steeper decline once the 360 replacement debuts, you will likely lose your $50k and maybe more. I've seen the occasional 2002 spider for sale privately for less than $200k with 2,000 to 4,000 miles on them. This would seem to be a better option unless you absolutely must have a 2003. Whatever you decide the 360 Spider is a great car and I'm sure you'll make the choice that's right for you. |

I recently got an E-mail from some dealer saying hes selling a yellow 360 F1 Spider thats an Euro. He was selling for 167,000. The car only had 7,000 miles and already converted...Something did not seem right so i just ignored the deal. |

The market is so soft right now you can get a 2002 Spider for under $200k, that of course does not come with an F1. But personally, and a lot of other people, would rather have the 6-speed. |

It's the F1 transmission. It has to slip the clutch to work. When you or a computer slips the clutch, it wears out faster. |

You know, I know this has been discussed, but each time I read these posts it floors me!!! How can a clutch burn out with such little mileage.....I mean, it seems like it would have to be a concentrated effort to deliberatly make that happen..............is this a "fault" with ferraris.......no need to answer, because this question has been beaten to death, but GEEZ!!! |

Sorry to post 3 in a row....but, both of our clutches blew up, his at 2200mi, mine at 4000mi. it ended up costing me just less than 5k(only PART of his was covered under warrenty, he still had to shell out 2k). inquire about clutch wear in you prospective car, it might save you some hassles...good luck..last post |

Also, in fairness to my friend his is a USA car and my car is a euro....but 70k makes up for a lot of warrenty work. |

Art, I think that's too high, if you think that the replacement is coming out in Oct., you are WAY better off buying an 01 for under 200k, if/and/or when the 420 comes out they will get way softer, not saying they'll die, but way softer. I don't know what improvments have been made in the 03, but my car is an 01 and my buddie's is an 02, and i can't tell the difference....oh yeah i know the difference: he paid 70k more than me |

Hi Art -- You mentioned there were some improvements on the '03 model. I'm just wondering, what are the improvements? Thanks. |

Whart: There are some improvements in the 03 model, but my major concern is that the replacement car is apprently coming in October (I've got a coupe coming). The sticker is 199k, it was ordered with literally all of the options. Art |

You can buy a 575 for that much ! The MSPR for a 2002 360F1 Spider is only $171,000.00. Anyone who would pay that much, if any, over sticker for any car has more dollars than sense IMHO. Especially for a V8 ! |

Sounds way to high to me. First of all,the sticker price sounds about 15k to high and I see these cars not selling in the high 190's. Is this car new or does it have miles? |

Art: duly noted, but since there are plenty of speculator cars from prior model years available for less, is there a need to have one with a 2003 sticker? |

Too much money, but a nice car. That was high, even last year. I'm thinking 215-225 retail if its a no miles car, less if driven. (I'd rather have a stick, but that's just me. Also, the black car looks sensational with daytona ribbed seats in grey/black.)PS I'm ignoring the fact that's its a 2003, since you could get the same car for less as an earlier model year unless there are running changes of significance, which i doubt. But on that, i'll defer. |

Depends on how badly you want it! Doesn't sound unreasonable for a 2003. I see the older ones listed for $259K, $247K etc, but not sure what they actually sell for. |

Got an opportunity to get a black, 360 spyder, black on black, F1, good radio, challenge grills, red brakes, shields, etc. sticker: 199+, for 250k. Is this a good deal or not? Art |
