Here's an interesting anecdote about a white Ferrari. I was talking today with sales manager at ferrari of Denver (who owns a white 328). I asked if they finally sold the white 348 that had been there more than a year. What happened was they struck a deal with body shop and had it painted yellow. Never made it back to the floor. A guy saw it when it was being cleaned up in the shop and bought it. They had it over year before painting.
I have a white car and a white truck, but have to admit, I don't like white Ferraris.

My favorite Ferrari in white is the Testarossa. I am currently looking for a perfect example in that color. IMO it looks stunning in white. I have seen a few 360 spiders in white and I must say they looked good also.

Hi Edvar,

got your email. Will send a reply in a couple of mins.

The other white ones are probably repaints or imports as Kroymans only handled the Testarossa according to themselves.

Jack, I don't know about Kroymans, but there are several more white Ferraris in The Netherlands. I know a white Mondial, a white 328, a white Testarossa, a white 308 .... By the way: nice page! I just sent you an email ...

There were a few aluminum 328s built by the factory but they are rare.

To Michael fvm: Are you sure the yellow 328 has an aluminium body? I find that hard to believe, they were never build like that, only the front hood has always been alu.

IMHO, white looks cheesy, although I like it on the BB. White just screams 80's excess to me, but hey, what do I know?

As for affecting price, I'm shopping for a 348 and have been tempted by white ones because they are between $5k-10k less than red, black, yellow ones. The money saved on the price may enable one to repaint it and still have a few $k left over.

Red interiors are terrible, IMO. It'd be like driving around in a cheap Chinese restaurant.

Kroymans in the Netherlands only sold one new white Fcar over the years, a Testarossa.

Says a lot about the Dutch taste for white I guess...

Hi Steve! Good to see you here too. For more pics of the white 512 BBi, check my site at www.red-headed.com (Photo Gallery, then Viva Italia).

Regarding the white Enzo: it's not a standard colour, but there really is a white Enzo in Japan!

Steve: the yellow 1989 328 on our web site has an aluminum body as well as a 288 GTO style interior and has had some engine work done. Originally came out of Houston.

Nice looking white 355 on ebay right now.

I never minded white on certain ferraris. I think the 355 and 348 look pretty sharp in them. Although my Mustang is white and its hell to keep it clean!

O.K. I made the deal on the 348 so my white/red 89 328 with 36000 and a fresh major service is going to be on the market. Wife said one or the other, maybe she can find a new place to stay? My 328 is in excellent shape and I think I will take $46,500. Any takers? I love it and want to keep both. We will see what she says when the 348 gets here.

L Wayne:
Meanwhile... somewhere else on FerrariChat.com:
http://www.conceptcarz.com/folder/vehicle.asp?car_id=605
(in bewilderment)(theferrarikid) Oh My... Something Amazing Just Happened. I was always DOUBTFUL that Frank Beard actually owned the azure blue 308 the dealer in St. Charles had for sale. Yet, behold... The car BEHIND the "ZZTOPless" GTO (in the link referred to IN YOUR reference link) Looks Like... oh my!, (quickly) I think it is... (excitedly) YES, IT IS!!! (in triumph now)...AN AZURE BLUE MID 80's 308!! THERE REALLY IS A FERRARI GOD!!!!! (large crowd cheering now)
Thank You, L wayne!!
Apologies for the drama, but I saw that car for sale about 4 years ago and the burning quest for truth regarding veteran rocker Frank Beard's ownership of it DROVE ME INSANE!!!

Frank Beard is an avid Ferrari collector and has owned many of them over the years.

Whart,
When I bought my red 308 (see pic) I remember finding one owned by Frank Beard. It was in the Dupont Registry. It was "azure blue" I believe, an 83 or 84 with roughly 20-30K+ mi. It was priced in the mid to high thirties, and the dealer was located in St. Charles, IL. I guess Frank Beard had quite an affinity for 308s?

I too would say that white carries a $ penalty (less interest from first time buyers so a smaller demand) even though it looks pretty good sometimes -- I recall that BB512 in white was absolutely gorgeous. Some evidence from Michael W.'s site, but the 25% spread (with more miles!) surprises me:

I had a white on red 89 328. I bought it in 99 with 3k miles on it, put another 3k miles on it and got all my money out of it within the same year. Car was originally owned by Frank Beard, the only one in ZZ Top without a, yep, exactly.Of all the ferraris i owned, it was my wife's favorite. I found it tight, and a bit underpowered, but the color was not a problem.

The white 328 that Jim posted is nice. I like how the targa top has been painted to match the car. It is similar to a red 308 owned by Mike Charness. I think it adds a modern touch to it.

I like them myself but I have heard several times at dealers that white Ferraris are loved by the first owner and no others...so yes, it does tend to affect the value.

White is by far my favorite. How many white 355, 360 and 360 Spiders exist in the US, if any? There were a quite a few of the older models in white, but it seems like it's not a popular color anymore. Silver probably took its place.

If I were to sell (and I'm not) I would ask market value for the car. White isn't for everybody, but I don't think it makes it worth less.

But does the color effect the selling price? White ones seem to sell lower (which can be a good thing if that is the color the buyer wants!)

White on red isn't that bad, but it depends on the car. I've seen a white/red diablo that was pretty nice. However, the bright interior gets old fast.

My car has a black interior with many blue accents in it (steering wheel, ebrake, shifter knob) and it goes very well with the blue stripe theme.

A black interior would be my goal for a f-car. 308 is still a very sexy car for it's age!

One of my favorite colors on a car is white, the other is black.

I've noticed that not many F-cars come in white, and those that do are priced a good bit lower than the std. racing reds. Is this true for most models in the ferrari line? Does color affect value that heavily?

I'd love to find a white 308 or 348.

James
