I looked at the car the other day for a fellow f-chatter.

1. Engine does NOT turn as claimed.
2. Transmission is pulled from engine slightly
3. both front wheels bent
4. frame it bent on the x-axis and z-axis
5. Engine subframe is pulled slightly from chassis
6. fire was far worse then the pic's showed.
7. Pass side took brunt of the hit

Well it is, BANG! Off to the glue factory, etc...

At least you can butcher that horse for parts to save others.

It isn't worth restoration but an enterprising sort will turn a profit parting it out. If it was a horse you'd have to shoot it.

The Forza Buyers guide on TRs says a new hood from Italy is about $7K.

What would the market be for the used doors, hood, side paneles and other re-useables? Anything??

Gabe,

I agree with you BUT, with tr's selling for 40-60. It's trash in that condition. F-40's are in the 300-400k. It's worth the cost to restore it. Big difference.

Yes, good point, F40 engines alone, go for more than most Ferrari's whole, but the article points out that he bought....if you can beleive this...an F40 engine from EBay for $20,000 which is an incredible buy.

It depends how much desire one has, to restore a Ferrari to its original condition. Not all Ferrari's get that second chance, and yes, even F40's have met the 'crusher'.

But Roland spent more on the engine for his F-40 then a TR in great condition is worth

There is plenty of potential.

Roland Linder took on an F40 in much worse condition, restored it to prestine shape with an LM twist. He lucked out, previous owners did not do their paperwork....he got a clean title.
