Martin
Since they did it it's hard to say. :-)
I still think I deserve a poster.

So since your car was converted it is an official Kit Car, right?

...just kidding. :-)

For me it's interesting to compare an artist's version of 0846 and a photo of 0846 after the race. (Note how he got the upper nose vents wrong)

Brian, you should search for his posts. It's under a complete restoration right now and James posts the pics and stories every week or so. Awesome!

That (the P4) is my favorite Ferrari... so, you still own that now? do you drive it? or is it a museum piece? (Its one of the few Ferrari's that I could justify preserving like the piece of historical art that it is.)

Soooo cool!

Just beyond words to be exposed to your 0846, even if it is just your online posts. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

We're that it were. No that's the car sitting in a museam in Turin after the race. Note the sand blasted nose from running at Daytona. That's what cars look like after winning Daytona.

Rob
#23 The Daytona winner is 0846 my car which began as P3 Berlinetta 0846 and was converted by Ferrari into P4 0846 which raced as both a Berlinetta and a spyder. The poster is a painting of 0846 winning Daytona. Here's a photo. The original (photo 2) was hanging on Mr. Ferrari's office wall on the day he died. (It still is)

Rob said: "Check this out, straight from the FCA prez himself here's the website where you can get the early reservation entry for the events and hotel. "

Huh? I don't see entry forms or hotel info or any such. Just a little coming soon blurb. If you downloaded more info, please send it my way... I am curious.

HOWEVER, ...

[rant on]

What is it with these event planners? They constantly dis us parents! My wife and I would *love* to go to this event... but they plan it for the week that is almost surely our kids' first week back to school. Ditching the kids with family isn't possible that week... way too much to dump on them.

I suppose they are trying to prevent attendance by families who would BRING the kids... but it sure is annoying for some of us who largely can't attend these awesome events until our kids have all graduated.

[rant off]

So, should I be booking my room for Monterey 2014? :-)

I'm still in. You bring your wife Martin! Wonder if our corp travel agent could get any kind of "deal" in the area? I don't have any points with hotels for free rooms, but I have airfare.

Maybe RV is an option.
I will check with them and link this to a tour of the National Parks with the wife.

Sicne Jim does not reply anymore about rooming with me and does not want to bring his beautiful wife (thats what you get for posting her picture :-) )might as well sleep in a camper.

I'll be there in 2004 too. I think I will soon start looking for a nice rental car in which I can sleep too :-)

If I save $300 per night, I can rent an F40 for a day or so ;-) Life is all about priorities ...

The $300+ room price doesn't include tax at close to 20% and parking at $20 or more per day. The Doubletree is decent, but no five star experience. The Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay is about a one hour drive by Ferrari up Hwy. 1. At the other end of the spectrum is Salinas. The Joad Family will let you sleep in the back of their truck long as you keep your grape pick'n hands off'n Rose0'Sharon.

I love the "Sticker Shock" fromt the out of towners. Wait til you see the cost of gasoline ($2.45 per gallon), lunch, dinner, etc.
Only in this area could a "Starter Home" cost 500K to 600K.
Welcome to the Bay Area Y'all!!!

$335 for a night in a Double Tree Hotel??????

You have got to be shitting me!

I rather stay in SFO for the night and drive daily but for $335 I can get a suite at the 4 Seasons not a Double Tree!

At the Sebring dinner, they said they expect 1500 or so Ferraris vis about 1200 in 1994. It should be great, Concours Italiano, high end auctions, historic races, Pebble Beach, FCA Concours and track events. A clear overdose.

Here we go, I tracked this down since I wanted to make sure my entry got in as it will fill up fast. Check this out, straight from the FCA prez himself here's the website where you can get the early reservation entry for the events and hotel. We know about this even before most FCA members will in the next news bulletin.

http://www.fca2004.com/

I'm staying at the designated hotel Sunday-Thursday night. I'll be enjoying the track event. I might consider arriving the Friday before if anyone could put up with me, my truck, and trailer for Friday and Saturday night. I will want to enjoy the historics and the other stuff that weekend before doing the FCA thing.

If you want reservations for the 2004 meet, go to the Pacific region website. Get John Huribuiel's (sp) email address, and drop him a note. They are taking reserations now, requires deposit, etc.

My understanding is that in addition to Laguna for track days, there will also be a track day at Sears Point. (and for those of you who think you're fast, I've got a little go kart, that I bet is faster around Sears than your Ferrari). If we want to try to set up a Chat dinner, or lunch, let me know, and I can see what I can do about that.

Hey, I take offense that the rest of the country thinks that evryone in SF is gay. I am not.

The hotel prices anywhere in No. Cal seem exorbitant to anyone traveling from outside. On New Years 2000, hotels had dinner/room "specials" for the ridicilously low price of 5 to 6K. Oh it did include a compilmentary continental breakfast.

The service should be great. For all of you out of towners, you will love the phrase: " Can I Push Up Your Stool?", as it may or may not becoming from your waiter!....Sorry, had to keep with your guy's gay theme.

The FCA is already accepting deposits on hotel rooms for the days of both "Monterey Week events" and the National meet the week after as well as deposits for the National Meet registration itself. My check is already in. Forms were handed out at the Sebring Dinner and I suspect you can get them from the FCA.

The MEET is in Monterey, not SF. If it was in SF, it would be a MEAT. The Monterey Doubletree (about 100 mi south of SF) is the headquarters hotel and you can register now. Prices are going to be astronomical at any hotel...even the budget motels will go for over $150 per night (double the normal rate). The FCA meet is being held the same week as the Concorso Italiano, Monterey Historic Races and Pebble Beach Concours. Stay the week and bring plenty of dough.

I'm in for sure. I lived in SF for 2 years & have some friends out there. I ran Laguna several times and its easily one of my favorite tracks.

I heard they will be holding the Concours in the Castro and will be giving a special prize for best Male Thong LOL :-)
