Mike...I use the pristine cleaner for the vinyl (dash) surfaces according to their instructions. I recommend using a small spray bottle to apply it and lather it onto the dash with your hand. Let it sit a few minutes, and then wipe it off with a terry cloth rag damp with very warm water. Rinse the rag in the warm water bucket often (you'll be amazed at the amount of dirt that appears in the bucket). Then finally buff it dry with a clean terry cloth towel. The website has more detailed instructions for this. The rejuvinator oil won't hurt these surfaces at all, but it's mainly intended to float dirt, etc. out of and rejuvinate (moisturize) the leather. The pristine cleaner does just that -- it cleans the dirt and grime that was floated by the rejuvinator oil from the leather. The rejuve oil is sort of an unecessary step for vinyl surfaces. The prepping agent is used to prep the leather for re-dyeing purposes. You wouldn't want to use this on any of these surfaces unless you plan on applying dye. BTW, isopropyl alchohol (70% ?) works just fine as a prepping agent. For smoothing out rough areas of the leather, I'd recommend wetting a small folded piece of fine grit sandpaper with the iso. alchohol and sand the leather -- the rough "dead" dye will roll right off and leave a smooth finish. Wipe it down once again with alchohol and a rag, and your ready to apply dye. George (or Krystie - his wife) at Leatherique would be glad to answer any questions -- give them a call, or shoot them an e-mail. They stay rather busy, but will eventually respond. |

Mike and All, Yes, the 2-step Leatherique system works well on the dash. Did this last week during my detail/wax-fest a week ago. It WILL get sticky as you leave step one on for a few days. Then step two removes SOME of the tackiness, yet will still take a few days to settle in. Hope this helps. Enjoy the Drive, Steven R. Rochlin

Peter...I'd recommend getting in touch with George at www.leatherique.com -- they have a 2-Stage system for cleaning and restoring the leather and vinyl surfaces. If the dye has deteriated, they can also color match your leather / vinyl and supply you with the dye to respray or touch up these surfaces. I use the leatherique products exclusively on my 308's interior and have had nothing but excellent results -- plus the leather smell is intoxicating! |

I have tried a few different cleaners for the console including Lenox. I can not seem to get it as clean as I think I should be able to. I thought about shoe polish and buffing it out real well....Whats the tick here? |
