I think there was an article in SCM on legal stuff and inspections that recomended Ferrari dealers or places like Norwood as they were generally not going to just declare chap.11 if your Testarossa needs a new engine in spite of the perfect PPI, unlike a Mom and Pop ferrari shop. |

Tom, Your competition will try to pick your work apart, just like they do me here, which is what a PPI is all about in the first place, not just to sell their product, although there is that element, but to bask in the glow of finding fault with others work. Knowing that in advance you simply do good work!! But the ultimate winner is the customer because the "disinterested 3rd party" has his reputation on the line not to miss any problems that would make him look bad later. If this disinterested 3rd party tries to pull a con artist job and sell his product...which is HIGHLY UNETHICAL that will come out in the wash also. NEVER EVER EVER EVER have the person doing the work also do the PPI...it's just plain suicide!!! The first thing I tell people on the phone..if so & so won't let me do the PPI, when I'm the requested choice, (and when I'm a disinterested 3rd party) then there's somethin fishy with the deal. This has NOTHING to do with Trust...Business is Business... Why will banks not take the word of a home owner about condition of the house for sale, but FORCE an inspection by a lisceced 3rd party inspector?? Simple....business is business.

Preferable that you don't have a car inspected by the shop or dealer. Norwoods is usually the place in Dallas to get your car inspected when buying from somewhere else. However, FoD doesn't do inspections and there's really no other alternative in the area except Norwoods. Shadetree if you don't mind going way East of Dallas. |

while I hear ya, doesn't the dealer have an interest in selling you his cars?. Generally when you chose to have your car serviced by someone are you not also asking them to inspect their own work???? |

Again I agree with JRV. Always have someone other than the one doing the work perform the PPI. |

NEVER EVER EVER have whomever works on a car inspect their own work !!!!!!! That's just plain nuts!! I refuse to do a PPI on a car I have serviced....I insist the car be inspected by a completely disinterested third party, preferably the dealer! |

I think James at Norwoods will shoot straight. He is pretty well respected in the local community. |

if you pay for the ppi, you should get an honest opinion which will be assisted by the fact they have recently worked on the car |

I'm looking at a 1990 Testarossa,Norwood is doing a complete 30,000 service on it.The owner is paying for it.My question is will I get a honest opinion from them or should I get another inspection done by me.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bud |
